Fans have spent well over a year piecing together scraps of information about ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ from leaked concept art that vanished within hours of appearing online to cryptic set photos snapped from behind construction fences.

With Robert Downey Jr’s transformation into Doctor Doom looming as one of the biggest gambles in franchise history, every new detail has been treated like scripture by a fanbase desperate to understand just how Marvel plans to bring three separate cinematic universes together on screen.

That anticipation reached a new peak this week when Marvel Studios, appearing at the Shanghai Expo in China, released the very first officially sanctioned concept art from the film. Unlike the grainy, unauthorized leaks fans have picked apart for months, this artwork comes straight from the studio itself, and it finally puts faces to the teams assembling to take on Doctor Doom.

The image shows the New Avengers lineup of Yelena Belova, Red Guardian, Bucky, Ghost, U.S. Agent, and Bob standing alongside Thor, Ant-Man, and Steve Rogers, with the X-Men roster of Cyclops, Gambit, Mystique, Beast, Magneto, and Professor X positioned nearby. The Fantastic Four also appear in full, including Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, The Thing, and Human Torch, alongside what looks like Sam Wilson’s own Avengers grouping featuring Falcon, Shang-Chi, Shuri as Black Panther, and King M’Baku.

Eagle eyed fans studying the artwork have already spotted a smaller detail tucked beneath Doctor Doom himself. Loki appears in the image as well, seemingly positioned as the character still powering the Multiverse in some capacity heading into the film’s climax. That inclusion has fans speculating about just how large a role Tom Hiddleston’s variant might play in the larger multiversal conflict.

The reveal comes alongside a separate video message Kevin Feige played for the crowd on site, featuring comments from the film’s creative team, and confirms the sprawling scope of the cast that includes Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Winston Duke, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, and Robert Downey Jr, alongside franchise newcomers like Wyatt Russell, Florence Pugh, David Harbour, and Lewis Pullman. The Russo Brothers direct both Doomsday and Secret Wars from a screenplay by Stephen McFeely, with Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Jonathan Schwartz producing.

Which team are you most excited to see in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’?

This official reveal stands in stark contrast to the film’s earlier brushes with leaked material. Back in 2025, concept art attributed to Marvel artist Mushk Rizvi briefly surfaced on ArtStation before being scrubbed, offering fans an unauthorized glimpse at characters like Star-Lord, White Vision, and a mysterious variant of Black Panther long before Marvel was ready to confirm anything. That leak forced Marvel to tighten security around the production, making this week’s sanctioned reveal an even bigger deal for a fanbase that has spent years piecing together scraps rather than getting the real thing.

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is scheduled to release in the United States on December 18, with ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ following on December 17, 2027, as the two films close out the MCU’s Multiverse Saga. With official concept art finally in hand and a trailer already generating buzz after its CinemaCon debut, Marvel appears ready to let the marketing machine run at full speed heading into the film’s final stretch.
