‘One Piece’ Crowned Best-Selling Manga of July as Oricon Releases Full Monthly Rankings

‘One Piece’ has spent nearly three decades dominating Japan’s manga industry, and 2026 has proven to be no exception as the franchise heads toward its thirtieth anniversary next year. Between the ongoing manga’s continued sales dominance, the anime’s adaptation of the Elbaf Arc, and the second season of Netflix’s live-action series, Eiichiro Oda’s creation has stayed firmly in the cultural spotlight throughout the year.

That momentum carried directly into the manga’s print sales, with Volume 115 posting massive numbers immediately following its July 3 release. The volume quickly surged past its closest competition, extending a trend that’s defined much of 2026 for the franchise as it continues topping weekly and monthly sales charts across Japan.

Oricon has now confirmed just how dominant that performance truly was, releasing its full July 2026 rankings covering sales data from June 29 through August 2. According to the results, ‘One Piece’ finished as the best-selling manga of the month with 1,437,565 total copies sold, cementing its position as the clear sales leader for the period.

Trailing behind in second place was ‘Hunter x Hunter,’ which sold 1,022,577 copies during the same stretch. That result marks a notably strong showing for Yoshihiro Togashi’s long-running series, especially given that it only recently returned to serialization after a lengthy hiatus, with its Volume 39 release also landing during the tracked period.

Beyond the two heavyweight franchises at the top, the rest of Oricon’s July top twenty reflected a wide mix of established hits and newer titles. ‘The Apothecary Diaries’ claimed third place with 325,292 copies sold, followed by ‘Daemons of the Shadow Realm’ in fourth with 291,059 copies, and ‘Blue Lock’ rounding out the top five with 240,576 copies.

Familiar Shonen Jump staples like ‘One-Punch Man,’ ‘Jujutsu Kaisen,’ and ‘Chainsaw Man’ also appeared throughout the list, alongside titles such as ‘Space Brothers,’ ‘Blue Box,’ and ‘Kingdom.’ The presence of series like ‘Chiikawa’ and ‘Haikyu!!’ further underscored just how broad manga’s monthly sales landscape remains, even with ‘One Piece’ and ‘Hunter x Hunter’ commanding the top two spots by a wide margin.

While ‘One Piece’ claimed the overall monthly crown, its individual weekly performance did fluctuate throughout July, with Oricon’s week-by-week data showing the title topping weekly charts for three consecutive weeks following Volume 115’s release before eventually ceding the top spot to other titles as sales naturally tapered off later in the month. That pattern of an initial sales surge followed by a gradual decline is fairly typical for major manga releases, making ‘One Piece’ securing the overall monthly title all the more notable.

With the franchise continuing to expand across manga, anime, and live-action adaptations simultaneously, ‘One Piece’ shows no signs of slowing down as it approaches its milestone anniversary next year. Given Togashi’s strong showing with ‘Hunter x Hunter’ this month as well, the rivalry between the two franchises at the top of Japan’s manga charts looks poised to remain one of the more compelling storylines in the industry going forward.
