‘One Piece Heroines’ Novel Series Set for Anime Adaptation – Fans Are Not Happy
A new One Piece anime focusing on the women of the series is coming soon. The announcement was made during One Piece Day in Tokyo. This anime will be based on the One Piece Novel Heroines light novel series, which tells short stories about the female characters in the world of One Piece.
The adaptation will have a unique art style, different from the main One Piece anime. A teaser visual shows Nami and Robin in this new look. According to the official One Piece Twitter account, viewers can “enjoy episodes that depict the charm of heroines not seen in the main story.”

The original novels are written by Jun Esaka and illustrated by Sayaka Suwa. They include stories about popular characters like Nami, Robin, Vivi, Perona, Hancock, Tashigi, Reiju, and Uta. So far, there are two volumes available for fans to read.
Haruka Kamatani will direct the anime. Takashi Kojima is handling character designs, and Momoka Toyoda, who worked on One Piece: Fan Letter, is writing the scripts. This team promises a fresh take on the beloved characters.
This new series isn’t the only One Piece project in the works. Netflix and WIT Studio are also making a remake of Eiichiro Oda’s original manga. That version will also feature its own style, separate from both the main anime and this new heroines adaptation.
Not all fans are thrilled with the news, though. Many have voiced their opinions online, wishing instead for adaptations of other stories. One fan wrote, “They should animate the Ace Manga/Novel. That would be so good with a proper studio behind it. And Boichi’s style translates well into shonen.” Others hope for a story about Law, saying it could make a great full-length movie.
One fan imagined what an Ace adaptation could cover, saying it should show “his whole life. From his birth, to meeting Sabo & Luffy, then meeting Deuce and starting his pirate life, to defeating the shishibukai, meeting Shanks & Yamato, fighting & joining WB, hunting BB, meeting Luffy again, the cover story, getting his ass beat by BB, and finally being turned into a donut.”
Fans also joked about what the studios choose to adapt, with one comment saying, “They’ll adapt anything other than Shokugeki no Sanji.”
The One Piece Novel Heroines anime offers a new way to see the female characters in the series, but fans are clearly hoping for even more stories from this rich world. The adaptation will be something different for viewers who want to explore the One Piece universe beyond the main story.
