‘Onslaught’ Star Adria Arjona Serves Black-and-White Drama at the Academy Museum Gala, and That Neckline Is Pure Temptation
Adria Arjona’s 2026 has been a year of big swings, both on screen and on the carpet. She has stepped into an action-lead role with A24’s ‘Onslaught,’ and her press tour has been built around sharp, editorial-ready silhouettes rather than conventional promo fashion. That momentum carried straight into one of Hollywood’s most glamorous nights.
The sixth annual Academy Museum Gala took place on October 17 in Los Angeles, honoring Charlize Theron, Colman Domingo and John Carpenter, with Taylor Swift set to perform. Dubbed the “Met Gala of the West,” the event lands right after Fashion Month and usually delivers looks straight from the runways.
Adria Arjona’s Academy Museum Gala look was a strapless black column gown with a sculpted white neckline, styled with Tiffany & Co. jewelry. W Magazine credits the dress to Rasario.

In the carpet clip, Arjona poses with both hands on her hips against softly draped curtains. The black gown hugs her frame from the bodice to the floor, and a wavy white trim runs along the bustline like a ribbon of cream, giving the dress a graphic, sculptural edge.
She kept the rest simple. Her hair was slicked back in a sleek style, and a delicate pendant necklace sat at her collarbone. The result is a high-contrast look that feels both classic and a little playful, with the neckline doing all the heavy lifting.

The jewelry choice wasn’t random. Arjona is a Tiffany & Co. ambassador and starred in the house’s 2026 Valentine’s Day campaign, so wearing its pieces at a major event fits her brand relationship.
She also attended the Tiffany & M.A.D. dinner in Paris at the start of Paris Fashion Week, wearing a sleek black dress with a sweetheart neckline, delicate straps and off-the-shoulder detailing. The black-dress thread runs through her recent appearances, with this gala look as the most graphic version yet.

Her ‘Onslaught’ press run has set a bold tone. At the Los Angeles premiere on August 26, she wore a Calvin Klein Collection Fall 2026 black strapless column dress with an exposed, contrasting corset detail, finished with Tiffany & Co. jewelry. W described it as a peekaboo take on the lingerie-as-eveningwear trend.
Compared with that look, the gala dress is calmer and more sculptural. It keeps the black-strapless foundation but swaps the lingerie references for a clean, wavy white edge, which gives it a more formal feel.

The fashion is tied to a major career step. In ‘Onslaught,’ directed by Adam Wingard, Arjona plays Celeste, an army sniper living in a trailer park who has to protect her family from a super soldier who escaped a secret military facility. She is also an executive producer on the film, which A24 released on September 4.
It marks a new kind of leading role for an actress best known for playing Bix Caleen in ‘Andor,’ Dorothy Gale in ‘Emerald City’ and the lead opposite Glen Powell in ‘Hit Man.’ She also appeared in ‘Blink Twice’ and was praised for ‘Splitsville’ at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival.
Her slate keeps growing. She is set to co-star with Michael B. Jordan in a remake of ‘The Thomas Crown Affair,’ and she has been cast in a mystery role in James Gunn’s ‘Man of Tomorrow,’ both slated for 2027. She has said she is training intensely for the latter.
Fans have also been asking about a possible ‘Andor’ spinoff centered on Bix, but she has said that any future project depends on showrunner Tony Gilroy’s involvement.
The evening was full of stars. Taylor Swift, Kate Hudson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kerry Washington, Chase Infiniti and Wunmi Mosaku were among the guests, alongside Hannah Waddingham, Emmy Rossum and Maya Hawke.
In a field of statement gowns, Arjona’s black-and-white look stood out for its restraint. It makes a strong case that a single sculptural detail can be enough to make an impression.
The beauty of the dress is in its proportions. The strapless cut elongates her silhouette, the white trim draws the eye upward, and the black fabric keeps everything sleek. It is the kind of outfit that photographs well from every angle.
It also fits her broader fashion story this year, which has leaned on strong shapes and confident contrasts. Whether she is in a corset-detailed column or a sculpted gala gown, the throughline is polish with a bit of edge.
