Peacock Orders ‘Dungeon Crawler Carl’ Series From Seth MacFarlane’s Fuzzy Door
Peacock is officially moving forward with a new live-action series based on Matt Dinniman’s popular “Dungeon Crawler Carl” book series. The streaming platform has given the project a straight-to-series order, bringing the wild sci-fi adventure to television.
The show is being developed by Universal Global Television and Seth MacFarlane’s production company Fuzzy Door. The two companies picked up the rights to Dinniman’s books in 2024, and the project has now moved into the next stage with a full series order.
Chris Yost, known for his work on projects like “Maul: Shadow Lord” and “Thor: Ragnarok,” will write the series and serve as an executive producer. Yost will also work closely with Dinniman as the story moves from the page to the screen.
Dinniman shared the news with fans on Instagram, celebrating the official greenlight from Peacock.
“I’m happy to announce that our friends at Peacock have officially greenlit the Dungeon Crawler Carl television series!” Dinniman wrote. “Me, Chris Yost and Seth MacFarlane and his team at Fuzzy Door are all really excited to get to work.”
The author also revealed that he and Yost will appear together at Comic-Con in July for a “Dungeon Crawler Carl” panel, where they are expected to discuss more about the upcoming adaptation.
The series follows a unique and chaotic story that combines science fiction, fantasy, comedy, and survival. In the world of “Dungeon Crawler Carl,” Earth has been destroyed after an alien invasion, leaving the remaining humans trapped in a deadly game show watched by audiences across the galaxy.
Peacock’s official description explains that the story follows Carl, a former Coast Guard member who is forced to fight for survival alongside an unusual partner: his ex-girlfriend’s famous pet cat, Princess Donut the Queen Anne Chonk.
The series description reads, “An alien invasion has wiped out most of humanity and any survivors are forced to fight for their lives on a sadistic intergalactic game show. Sounds bad, right? Now try doing it with bare feet and a stuck-up, self-centered, tiara-wearing talking cat as your partner.”
The story takes place inside Dungeon Crawler World: Earth, where survival becomes entertainment. Carl and Princess Donut must battle monsters, aliens, artificial intelligence, and even other humans while trying to stay alive for the cameras.
The unusual mix of action, humor, and strange characters has helped the book series build a large fan base. The upcoming TV adaptation will aim to bring that same unpredictable energy to a live-action format.
Seth MacFarlane will executive produce the series alongside Erica Huggins and Rachel Hargreaves-Heald for Fuzzy Door. Yost will also serve as an executive producer, while Dinniman will be involved as a co-executive producer.
With MacFarlane’s production company behind the project and Peacock backing the adaptation, “Dungeon Crawler Carl” is shaping up to be one of the streamer’s biggest genre projects. More details about casting, production, and a release date have not been announced yet.
