Penélope Cruz is clearly in a bold mood as she kicks off promotion for her new film, and her latest appearance in London shows a noticeable shift in her fashion choices. Instead of leaning into the classic, polished style she is known for, the actress stepped out in a look that felt modern, daring, and very fashion-forward.

Cruz appeared in London to promote her upcoming film The Bride!, directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal. The event took place at The Corinthia Hotel, where she joined several of her co-stars for press duties and photo calls. Photos and reports from the event quickly caught attention thanks to Cruz’s striking outfit.

For the appearance, Cruz chose a sculpted black dress from French designer Simon Porte Jacquemus. The look marked a clear break from her usual Chanel-heavy wardrobe and showed a more experimental side of her personal style. Fashion coverage from the London press noted that this was one of her boldest public looks in recent years.

The dress featured long sleeves, a fitted waist, and a strong neckline that highlighted her figure. Decorative fringe-style details added movement and texture, giving the outfit an artistic edge. The overall effect was dramatic but controlled, balancing elegance with something more daring.

The design is not brand new to the fashion world. It previously appeared on the runway during Jacquemus’ Fall-Winter presentation in Paris earlier this year and was also worn by model Tina Kunakey. Cruz’s choice to wear it during a major press moment shows her growing interest in contemporary designers.

She finished the look with oversized statement jewelry from Italian fashion house Roberto Cavalli. The earrings featured bold shapes, pearls, and red accents, adding another layer of drama. The accessories helped turn the outfit into a full visual moment rather than just a simple dress.

Just weeks earlier, Cruz had been spotted at the Chanel Haute Couture show wearing a much more traditional and refined look. That appearance, which included photos alongside stars like Dua Lipa, reflected the elegant style she has been known for throughout her career. This contrast makes her London feel like a deliberate shift.

As Cruz continues traveling for The Bride! press tour, it appears she is enjoying taking more fashion risks. The change may reflect the darker tone of the film, which is inspired by Frankenstein and set in 1930s Chicago. In the movie, Cruz plays Myrna Mallow in a story about creation, obsession, and identity.

The Bride! is scheduled for a theatrical release on March 6 and is Maggie Gyllenhaal’s second film as a director following The Lost Daughter. The cast also includes Christian Bale, Jessie Buckley, Annette Bening, and Peter Sarsgaard.

Outside of this film, Cruz has several projects in development and post-production, including the thriller The Invite and a new Spanish-language project titled La Bola Negra. She also continues to work closely with major fashion houses, balancing long-term brand relationships with newer, trend-driven labels.
