‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ Season 3 First Look Reveals New Faces and an Earlier Than Expected Return

Disney Plus has quietly turned ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ into one of its most reliable young adult hits, consistently ranking among the platform’s most-watched original series since it first debuted. With two successful seasons already behind it, the demigod adventure has earned a level of trust from fans that few adaptations manage after a rocky first attempt at the big screen.

That trust has only grown stronger heading into the show’s next chapter, especially given how much has already changed behind the scenes. Production wrapped months ago, and with post-production well underway, fans have spent the summer eagerly waiting for concrete details about what comes next for Percy and his friends.

Entertainment Weekly has now unveiled a new look at Season 3 of ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians,’ confirming the show will premiere on Disney+ on November 20. That release date lands notably earlier than the franchise’s usual pattern, marking roughly a month earlier than the December premieres both previous seasons received.

Season 3 will adapt ‘The Titan’s Curse,’ the third novel in Rick Riordan’s bestselling series, pushing Percy into what the show describes as a darker and more expansive quest. The story introduces the Hunters of Artemis and a growing threat to Olympus, giving the franchise its biggest mythological stakes yet.

Walker Scobell returns as Percy Jackson, alongside Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth Chase and Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood, continuing the trio’s journey from the show’s first two seasons. New cast additions for Season 3 include Kate McKinnon as Aphrodite and Dafne Keen as Artemis, two significant Olympian roles that promise to expand the show’s growing pantheon of gods.

The premiere date shift appears deliberately strategic given the current release calendar. Season 3 is now set to debut the same day ‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping’ arrives in theaters, positioning both franchise adaptations to capture fantasy fans during the same November weekend rather than competing directly for holiday season attention.

This marks the franchise’s first television adaptation of ‘The Titan’s Curse,’ a novel that was originally intended for a feature film adaptation before those movie plans were ultimately shelved. Bringing the story to the small screen instead gives the creative team room to explore the book’s expanded mythology without the constraints of a two-hour runtime.

The show’s creative team has also managed to significantly shorten the gap between seasons this time around, delivering Season 3 just ten months after Season 2’s finale. That quicker turnaround stands in stark contrast to the two-year wait fans endured between the show’s first and second seasons.

Audience reception has remained a major driver behind the franchise’s continued investment. The series has maintained strong Rotten Tomatoes audience scores across both prior seasons, with ratings improving from Season 1 to Season 2, giving Disney a clear incentive to keep the adaptation moving forward at a faster pace.

While a fourth season has not yet been officially confirmed, reports suggest early development conversations are already underway. Given how well received the franchise has been so far, and with Season 3 promising some of its biggest mythological stakes to date, it seems likely Disney will want to keep this particular quest going for the foreseeable future.
