‘Percy Jackson’ Universe Expands With Brand-New Spinoff Series Announcement
Percy Jackson & the Olympians is getting a new expansion, and it comes in the form of a fresh spin-off book series set at Camp Half-Blood.
The new series is titled Camp Half-Blood, and the first book will be called The Wild Zone. It is set to be released on September 29. Riordan is co-writing the first book with Annabelle Oh, and each of the following three books will have a different co-author. The second, third, and fourth books will be written with Kyle Lukoff, Jada Adia, and Pablo Cartaya. The books will be released every six months after the first one.
The stories take place between the events of The Lightning Thief and The Sea of Monsters, which are the first two books in the original Percy Jackson series. The focus is on new demigods arriving at Camp Half-Blood, where strange events start happening and campers begin to disappear. The main Percy Jackson character does not appear in these new stories.
The first book, The Wild Zone, follows Katie Kim, a daughter of Ares. According to Riordan’s description shared on his website, Katie has a dangerous secret and discovers a restricted part of the camp called the Wild Zone. Each of the other books will follow a different character, including Harper Rush, the son of Aphrodite, Zuri Chapman, the daughter of Apollo, and Benny Garcia, an unclaimed demigod.
Riordan explained why he chose to work with multiple co-authors on this project. He said he wanted the stories to reflect the different backgrounds of the characters in a more authentic way. In his words, “These four campers all came from very different backgrounds. So I thought it would be cool if I found four authors who shared those backgrounds and could write the demigods’ stories in a way that felt more real and true.” This statement was taken from Riordan’s official announcement.
He also made it clear that all writers were equally involved in the process. He said, “We shared the work equally. We split the money equally. Equal billing, equal credit.”

Even though this new series is separate from the main books, Disney has already taken an early step toward adapting it for television. According to Riordan’s announcement, the Camp Half-Blood series has been optioned by Disney+ for a possible TV adaptation. However, he also warned that this does not guarantee anything will be produced, noting that many optioned books never become shows or movies.
The announcement comes as the Percy Jackson and the Olympians TV adaptation continues to grow in popularity. The series, which is based on Riordan’s books, has already released two seasons on Disney+, with a third season expected in late 2026. The show is known for being a more faithful version of the original novels compared to earlier film adaptations made by 20th Century Fox.

Riordan also confirmed that he is still working on the final book in his Senior Year Adventures trilogy. He said the new Camp Half-Blood project delayed it, but he still plans to finish it once this spin-off series is complete. He added in his statement, “As soon as work on Camp Half-Blood is wrapped, I’ll go back to writing the third senior year adventure.”
The author also said that the upcoming book will likely be Percy Jackson’s final main-narrated adventure, saying it is the right time for the character to move on from the spotlight.
For now, fans can expect the first Camp Half-Blood book, The Wild Zone, to arrive in September, while the TV series continues to build the Percy Jackson universe on screen.
