‘Not All New Actors’: ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean’ 6 Producer Drops Big Hint About Returning Cast

Hollywood is buzzing with news about the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer recently spoke about the project, giving fans some fresh details about the sixth film in the popular franchise.
While no release date is set, the team is focused on perfecting the script.
In a recent interview, Bruckheimer hinted that the movie could bring back some well-known characters. “We’ll have some back,” he said when asked if the film would feature an entirely new cast. He kept fans guessing by adding, “I’m not going to tell you which ones — you’ll have to guess.” This news has sparked excitement that some original stars might return.
The upcoming film will offer a fresh take on the Pirates story, according to Bruckheimer. “It’ll be a new take on it,” he explained, suggesting the movie won’t follow the same path as past entries.
He stressed the team’s commitment to getting the script right before moving forward. “We’re working on a screenplay. Hopefully we’ll get it right — and then we’ll make it,” he said.
Disney is exploring two separate Pirates projects. One is a reboot written by Jeff Nathanson, who contributed to Dead Men Tell No Tales and is working on Mufasa: The Lion King. The other is a potential spin-off with a script by Christina Hodson, known for Birds of Prey.
This spin-off was once linked to Margot Robbie, but its status remains unclear. Bruckheimer noted that a reboot is simpler to produce since it doesn’t depend on specific actors’ schedules.
The last film, Dead Men Tell No Tales, introduced new characters like Henry Turner, the son of Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann, played by Brenton Thwaites, and Carina Smyth, Captain Barbossa’s daughter, played by Kaya Scodelario. Fans thought these characters might lead the franchise forward, but no plans have been confirmed.
As for Johnny Depp, who starred as Captain Jack Sparrow in all five films, his return seems uncertain. Disney parted ways with him after his legal battle with ex-wife Amber Heard.
In 2022, Depp said Disney dropped him following Heard’s 2018 op-ed about surviving abuse. Although Depp won the lawsuit, there’s no confirmation he’ll be back. Still, Bruckheimer expressed support for Depp in 2024, saying, “It’s a reboot, but if it was up to me, he would be in it.”
Details about Pirates of the Caribbean 6 are still scarce, but Bruckheimer’s comments suggest the franchise is far from over, with familiar faces possibly returning.
I think it’s exciting that Pirates of the Caribbean is getting a fresh chapter, but I’m curious about how a reboot will feel without some of the iconic characters we’ve grown to love. Bringing back familiar faces could keep the spirit of the series alive, but a new direction might also draw in younger fans.
The uncertainty around Johnny Depp’s return is a big question mark, his Jack Sparrow defined the franchise for many. What do you think about the new Pirates movie? Are you hoping for old favorites to return, or do you want a completely fresh start? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
