‘Pluribus’ Season 2 Finally Leaves the Waiting Room

When ‘Pluribus’ landed on Apple TV in early November 2025, it quickly became one of Apple TV+’s most-watched original series. It was a rare thing for a slow-burn sci-fi mystery, and it left viewers talking about the show for months afterward.

The Season 1 finale saw Carol finally joining forces with Manousos, one of the others immune to the Joining. That cliffhanger set up a long stretch of speculation, made harder by the lack of any firm timeline. The creative team behind the show was careful not to let its popularity pressure them into rushing the writing process.

Now the wait has a new marker. DiscussingFilm reported on X on Nov. 2 that ‘Pluribus’ Season 2 has begun filming, with the show “coming soon to Apple TV.” The post came with a striking image of 2 figures in a dry, open landscape, sharing a pale pink umbrella under a clear blue sky.

The location fits what was expected. Production on Season 2 was scheduled to begin in late October 2026, with filming returning to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where the first season was shot. That makes the new set photo feel like a natural continuation of the desert-bleached look fans remember.

The start date also lines up with earlier hints from the cast. Karolina Wydra, who plays Zosia, told ScreenRant at PaleyFest that filming was expected to begin during the fall. It was the most concrete update the show had offered after a stretch of vague calls for patience.

Behind the scenes, the groundwork took a while. Creator Vince Gilligan said writing had finished, having begun in December the previous year, with filming set for the fall. That timeline surprised some fans, especially since the series had been commissioned for 2 seasons from the start.

As for when viewers might actually see the results, there is still no official premiere date. Outlets have suggested episodes are unlikely to arrive until later in 2027 or early 2028. Some are more optimistic, since the fall production window suggests Season 2 could release around November 2027, maintaining the show’s pattern of releasing in the same month each cycle.

Not everyone is that hopeful. Forbes estimated, based on Season 1’s filming and post-production timings, that Season 2 could drop in July 2028, give or take a month. Apple hasn’t weighed in on either estimate, so the date remains a guessing game.

Apple TV’s sci-fi slate is also moving in step. ‘Severance’ Season 3 was also about to begin filming, with a similarly expected release in late 2027. Together, the 2 shows suggest a busy stretch ahead for the streamer’s prestige genre lineup.

There is also the question of who will be on screen. Details about Season 2 remain under wraps, and it’s unclear which performers beyond the core cast will return without an official announcement from Apple TV. If the new season follows Season 1, it will likely keep a small cast focused on Carol, Zosia and Manousos.

For now, the umbrella image is the best clue fans have, and it’s a quiet, unsettling one that suits the show. After months of waiting, cameras are rolling again, and that is the first real sign that Carol’s story is moving forward.
