Possible X-Men Villains for the MCU Debut Teased in New Report

The upcoming X-Men reboot in the MCU is one of the most highly anticipated projects for fans, as it will officially introduce the iconic mutant team into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, taking over from Fox’s previous X-Men franchise.

While details about the film remain scarce, Marvel Studios is aiming to strike a balance between humor and drama while introducing mutants who have yet to appear in live-action.

It was recently revealed that Michael Lesslie, best known for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, has been tapped to write the script. His strong pedigree makes him a promising choice for the reboot.

Reports suggest that Lesslie pitched a full X-Men ’97-inspired roster for the team. However, rumors indicate that Wolverine may not be included initially, as Hugh Jackman is expected to continue playing the character beyond Secret Wars.

If these rumors prove true, the MCU’s X-Men reboot could feature a lineup that includes Cyclops, Rogue, Storm, Beast, Gambit, Jubilee, Jean Grey, Professor X, Morph, Bishop, Magneto, Nightcrawler, and Sunspot. Of course, nothing has been officially confirmed yet, so these details remain speculative for now.

It’s too early to know anything regarding possible stories and villains that the future X-Men installments might bring, this is why we have to rely on industry rumors and scoopers.

Recently, Alex Perez of Cosmic Circus published his monthly AMA and mentioned some possible antagonist elements that could appear in the upcoming movie.

One fan asked which X-Men comic stories Marvel might use in future MCU movies.

Perez said he has a few ideas, but from what he’s said and heard, it looks like the first X-Men movie will have villains like Mr. Sinister, Senator Kelly, and Bolivar Trask.

There are a couple I have in mind. However, based on what I have commented and heard, all signs point to Mr. Sinister, Senator Kelly and Bolivar Trask being the first antagonist elements they’d want to use for the first X-Men film.”

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard rumors about Mr. Sinister being included. He’s one of the most well-known X-Men villains, so it makes perfect sense to bring him into the MCU. A while back, and I mean a really long while back, there were even rumors that the studio was eyeing Henry Cavill for the role.
