Quentin Tarantino Reveals the Movie He Says Has the Best Stunts Ever

Quentin Tarantino is known for his love of action and bold filmmaking. From his early movies to later hits, action has always played a big role in his work. That passion reached a peak with Kill Bill in 2003, where he fully leaned into martial arts cinema and stylized fight scenes.

Kill Bill tells the story of the Bride, played by Uma Thurman, as she hunts down the people who betrayed her. The film is packed with sword fights, stunts, and dramatic combat. Many of those ideas came from movies Tarantino grew up loving, especially action films from Hong Kong.

One movie he often praises is Police Story 3: Super Cop from 1992. In past interviews and public discussions, Tarantino has said the film includes the greatest stunts ever put on film. He has made it clear that, in his view, few movies can compete with what was achieved in that project.

The movie stars Jackie Chan as a detective, but it was Michelle Yeoh who truly stood out. Tarantino has repeatedly pointed to one scene in particular where Yeoh rides a motorcycle onto a moving train. He has called that moment one of the high points of action filmmaking.

Police Story 3: Super Cop helped turn Yeoh into a global action star. Her work in the film showed a level of physical skill and fearlessness that influenced many filmmakers, including Tarantino. That influence later showed up in Kill Bill through the character of the Bride.

Years later, Yeoh shared a story about joking with Tarantino about Kill Bill. She asked why she was not cast as the lead. According to her recollection in interviews, Tarantino laughed and replied that audiences would never believe Uma Thurman could beat her in a fight.

Tarantino’s support of Yeoh went beyond admiration. After she suffered a serious injury while filming The Stunt Woman in 1996, Yeoh feared her career might be over. In interviews, she has said she believed she may have damaged her spine and was dealing with constant pain.

Yeoh later credited Tarantino for helping pull her out of that dark time. She explained that his excitement about movies and his belief in her abilities slowly helped her find her confidence again. His passion reminded her why she loved acting in the first place.

Since then, Yeoh’s career has reached incredible heights. She made history by winning the Academy Award for Best Actress for Everything Everywhere All at Once. She has also appeared in Wicked and Wicked For Good as Madame Morrible, earning praise from fans and critics.

This year, Yeoh is set to receive the Honorary Golden Bear for lifetime achievement at the Berlin International Film Festival, according to festival announcements. She is also starring in the upcoming Amazon Prime Video series Blade Runner 2099 alongside Hunter Schafer.

Even decades after Police Story 3: Super Cop, the film that Tarantino praises so highly still stands as a benchmark for action cinema. For both Tarantino and Yeoh, it represents a moment when stunts, skill, and storytelling came together perfectly.
