Randall Wallace’s ‘The Swiss Guard’ Eyeing Chris Pratt for Lead Role, Rumor Claims

It has been four years since the media confirmed that Randall Wallace would be directing a movie titled The Swiss Guard off his own screenplay. The Oscar-nominated writer of Braveheart was very excited to start filming the movie, but there have been no uptades since.
And while the movie seemingly ended in developmental hell, a recent rumor suggest that Wallace is moving forward with the project and that a major A-lister is eyed for the main role in the movie.
The rumor comes from DanielRPK via his Patreon account. He confirmed that the movie was being made after all, which is a very positive update after four years of nothing, even if it is just a rumor. The movie is described as “Die Hard in Vatican,” which is in line with the original plot details as they had been revealed.
Originally, the movie was supposed to be about a plot to kidnap a newly-elected pope who decided to reform the Church and its finances. A group of elite assasins was sent to the Vatican and the Swiss Guard was the only thing standing between them and the Pope. Initially, the movie was poised to have a female protagonist.
And while we don’t know whether that has changed or not, Richtman says that Chris Pratt is being eyed for the lead role. We doubt that he is being eyed for the role of the Pope, so he’ll probably have something to do with the security; whether that excludes a female protagonist is unknown, as he could be a member of the Swiss Guard while the female co-lead would have a different role.
This is all that we have as of the time of writing and we advise you to take this with a grain of salt, since it is only a rumor at this time. Hopefully we get some official updates soon!
