‘Reacher’ Just Locked in Four New Faces for Season 5, and One Actor’s Return Comes with a Twist

Prime Video’s flagship action series has built its reputation on a steady rhythm of small-town mysteries and larger-than-life conspiracies, all filtered through Alan Ritchson’s imposing take on Jack Reacher. With Season 4 still weeks away from its premiere, the show is already deep into planning its next chapter, and the early casting details are turning heads.

Reacher’s fourth season, based on Lee Child’s novel ‘Gone Tomorrow,’ is set to premiere on August 12, following the drifter into a deadly conspiracy that begins with a chance encounter on a train. Before that season has even reached audiences, the series has wrapped its first week of filming on Season 5 and is already assembling a fresh ensemble of new characters.

According to Deadline, four new series regulars have officially joined ‘Reacher’ for its fifth season: Jay Baruchel, Kevin Durand, Amanda Ip, and Ciara Bravo. Baruchel will play Chief Buck Bauer, Durand takes on the role of Nokes, Ip is set to play Michelle Chang, and Bravo joins the cast as Eunice.

Season 5 will adapt ‘Make Me,’ the twentieth novel in Lee Child’s long-running book series, following Reacher after his train stops in the mysterious town of Mother’s Rest. There, he teams up with a private investigator to search for a missing person, a case that quickly spirals into a much larger and more dangerous criminal conspiracy.

Baruchel’s involvement carries an interesting wrinkle for longtime followers of the show’s production history. He was originally cast for a role in Season 4 as well, playing a small-town policeman named Jacob Merrick, but was ultimately recast during that season’s production due to a personal matter, according to ScreenRant. His return for Season 5 marks a notable second chance at joining the franchise in a different role entirely.

The rest of the new cast brings its own genre credibility to the project. Durand recently appeared in ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ and ‘The Naked Gun,’ while Ip has built a résumé that includes ‘Transplant’ and ‘Cross.’ Bravo, known for ‘Voicemails for Isabelle’ and ‘The Most Dangerous Game,’ rounds out the new additions to the ensemble.

News of Season 5’s development first became public at San Diego Comic-Con, where Prime Video confirmed the adaptation alongside trailers for both Season 4 and the franchise’s upcoming spinoff series ‘Neagley.’ That spinoff, starring Maria Sten as the title character, is set to premiere on September 16, following Neagley on a dangerous mission that puts her life on the line to expose a hidden threat.

Reacher himself is expected to play a role within ‘Neagley’ as well, though the future of that spinoff beyond its first season remains undecided for now. Together, the two shows suggest Amazon is continuing to lean into the broader Reacher universe, expanding well beyond Ritchson’s title character while keeping the franchise’s signature blend of gritty mystery and hard-hitting action intact.

With Season 4 premiering in just a couple of weeks and Season 5 already actively filming behind the scenes, ‘Reacher’ shows no signs of slowing its production pace anytime soon. Fans eager for Ritchson’s next case won’t have to wait long, and this early Season 5 casting news gives them plenty to look forward to well beyond the upcoming premiere.
