‘Reacher’ Star Alan Ritchson Breaks Silence on Alleged Neighbor Fight: “Scariest Thing I’ve Ever Been Through”

‘Reacher’ star Alan Ritchson is finally opening up about the physical altercation with his neighbor that made headlines earlier this year. The actor addressed the incident months after his neighbor accused him of attacking him during a dispute involving Ritchson’s motorcycle.

The controversy began in March when Ronnie Taylor claimed that an argument over the noise and speed of Ritchson’s bike escalated into a physical confrontation. Video footage of the incident later circulated online, showing a struggle between the two men while Ritchson’s children were nearby.

Now, Ritchson has shared his version of events for the first time. During an appearance on the ‘Armchair Expert’ podcast, the actor described the situation as one of the most difficult experiences he has ever faced.

“It was the scariest thing I’ve ever been through. I don’t like that kind of conflict,” Ritchson said during the interview.

The actor explained that he usually tries to avoid confrontation and said he was frustrated that people had opinions about the situation without knowing the full story. According to Ritchson, the reason he was not arrested after the incident was because police reviewed body camera footage and other evidence that supported his claim that he acted in self-defense.

Brentwood Police Captain Steven Pepin previously confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that authorities reviewed video footage and witness statements before deciding not to file criminal charges against Ritchson.

“After reviewing available evidence, including video footage and witness statements, authorities determined that no criminal charges will be pursued. Mr. Ritchson’s actions were found to be in self-defense,” Pepin said.

During the podcast, Ritchson explained that the disagreement started because he was riding a motorcycle that he described as being unusually loud. The actor said he enjoys motorcycles and has even considered creating a project inspired by the world of motorcycle racing.

Ritchson claimed that he had never met Taylor before the incident and said he believed Taylor misunderstood what was happening. He explained that he often rides motorcycles around his neighborhood with his family and that people sometimes react because they recognize him from his acting work.

The actor said he understands why someone might react negatively to a loud motorcycle, but claimed the situation became more aggressive when Taylor approached him.

“I wasn’t going fast, and it’s loud. So, I can understand how somebody who doesn’t know what’s going on might be like, ‘It’s so loud. He’s racing through the neighborhood,’” Ritchson said.

He added that he believed he needed to protect himself and his children once the confrontation escalated.

“I’ve gotta protect me, and I’ve gotta protect my kids, and I’ve gotta get us off the street safely,” Ritchson explained.

Taylor previously gave a different version of events in an interview with TMZ, claiming that he approached Ritchson because he was concerned about the motorcycle’s speed and noise. Taylor said he asked the actor to slow down before the situation turned physical.

According to Taylor, he did not want revenge against Ritchson but wanted people to be more careful when riding through residential areas.

Following the incident, Ritchson appeared to address the situation on social media by sharing a quote attributed to Napoleon Bonaparte: “Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.”

The actor said the experience was especially difficult because his children witnessed the confrontation and that the situation affected their relationship with motorcycles.

“My kids won’t ride with me anymore. He robbed me of that,” Ritchson said.

While the incident remains a topic of public discussion, police have not pursued charges against Ritchson. The actor is now focused on moving forward, though he admitted that the situation left him with lasting emotions.
