Robert Downey Jr. May Have Already Revealed Which Variant of Doctor Doom He Is Playing

At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios revealed that ‘Avengers: Kang Dynasty’ will now be titled ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. They also announced that Victor Von Doom will be the primary villain of the Multiverse Saga. However, no one expected that Robert Downey Jr. would be cast in the role of Doom.

Yes, Robert Downey Jr. is returning to the MCU, but this time not as Iron Man; instead, he’ll portray one of Marvel’s most iconic villains. Fans expressed concern over this announcement, as RDJ is so closely associated with his role as Tony Stark, leading to mixed reactions overall.

In a recent interview on ‘The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter’ podcast, the actor confirmed his return to the MCU and revealed which variant of Doom we can expect to see:

Susan and I were sitting down with Feige at one point and he said, ‘It just keeps occurring to me that if you were to come back…’ and Susan was like, ‘Wait, wait, come back as what?’

Then we both realised over time that it was another thing that just disproves any doubt anyone could ever have about that guy, a very sophisticated creative thinker, about how can we not go backwards, how can we not disappoint expectations, how we can continue to beat expectations?

And he brought up Victor Von Doom. I looked up this character and I was like, ‘Wow.’ Later, Kevin goes, ‘Let’s get Victor Von Doom right. Let’s get that right.’

Several theories are circulating about how RDJ will be integrated into the MCU, with suggestions including adaptations of storylines like ‘Demon in an Armor’ and ‘Infamous Iron Man.’ However, based on RDJ’s comments, it appears he will primarily be portraying just Doom.

This is good news, as many fans predicted that he might appear as a Doom variant of Iron Man considering the multiverse themes. Having Downey play just Doom gives him a chance to create a new character instead of relying on his Iron Man persona and jeopardizing his legacy.
