‘Robin & Batman: Jason Todd’ Miniseries Debuts June 11: Covers & Plot Released
A new comic series is coming from DC Comics, focusing on Batman and his second Robin, Jason Todd. The three-issue limited series, created by writer Jeff Lemire and artist Dustin Nguyen, explores Jason’s early days as the Dark Knight’s partner. It begins on June 11 and is available for preorder starting Friday, March 21 at comic shops and online.
Jason Todd is a young character with a tough background. Batman takes him in, believing he can shape Jason into Gotham’s next hero. But Jason is impulsive and carries a lot of anger, making it hard for Batman to guide him.
Things get more complicated when a strange new villain, wrapped in white cloth, targets Jason. This forces Batman to question if he can help Jason overcome his inner struggles.
The creative team of Lemire and Nguyen is well-known for their award-winning work on Descender and Ascender. They also worked together in 2022 on another DC series, Robin & Batman, which told the story of Dick Grayson, the first Robin. Now, they’re shifting their focus to Jason, a character with a short but memorable history as Robin.
The first issue will feature a main cover by Dustin Nguyen. Variant covers will come from Nguyen, Jeff Lemire, Rafael Albuquerque, and John McCrea. Here’s how DC sums it up: “Batman has a new Robin, Jason Todd. Jason is a rash, impulsive and reckless kid with a troubled past, who Batman was certain could be molded into Gotham’s next protector.
But can the Dark Knight save Jason Todd from the darkness within himself? And when a mysterious new villain, shrouded in white cloth and mystery, sets his sights on Jason, Batman realizes that even he has what it takes to train the anger and torment out of his new young ward.”
