‘RoboCop’ Star Confirmed Dead at Home, Cause of Death Revealed
Hollywood has lost a veteran actor and stuntman. Neil Summers, best known for his work in RoboCop, has died at the age of 81.
According to sources, Summers passed away from natural causes at his home in Utah last Thursday, surrounded by friends and family.
Summers was born in London, England, on April 28, 1944. He started his career in 1963 when he traveled to Tucson, Arizona, to work as a stunt extra on the film McLintock!.
Over the years, he became a sought-after stunt double, working with actors like Warren Oates, Roddy McDowall, Michael Anderson Jr., and Michael J. Pollard.
Beyond stunt work, Summers appeared in many television shows including Gunsmoke, Bonanza, Barnaby Jones, Death Valley Days, The High Chaparral, The Fall Guy, Petrocelli, and Daniel Boone. His film credits are extensive and include Duel at Diablo, Heaven with a Gun, El Dorado, True Grit, The Greatest Story Ever Told, Rio Lobo, RoboCop, Wild at Heart, Rough Night in Jericho, The Shawshank Redemption, and Guns of a Stranger.
Tributes have already begun pouring in from colleagues and fans. One post read, “R.I.P. to stuntman and actor Neil Summers 1944-2025.” Another said, “I’m very sad to hear that my dear friend Neil Summers has passed away. Rest in Peace my friend, you were a real Cowboy.”
Some fans also reflected on Summers’ place in Hollywood, writing, “Another Hollywood name fades into obscurity. The industry that once celebrated him now churns out mediocrity. Talent is a relic in a world obsessed with agendas. Rest in peace, Neil Summers. Your legacy is lost in the noise.”
