Rumor: New ‘What If…?’ Season 2 Episode Details Have Surfaced

The animated streaming series ‘What If…?’ is one of the most unique and most interesting MCU projects. Not only because of the fact that it was the first animated piece of MCU content but also because everything that happens in this series is non-canonical events that show what would happen if some key moments from the Marvel Cinematic Universe had played out differently.

The series’s first season featured nine episodes, some of which were amazing and some were… not. The series features the voice talent of Jeffrey Wright as the Watcher, and various MCU actors have returned to voice their respective characters, with a few exceptions (Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow…), where new actors were hired to replace actors from live action.

The first season dealt with many key events from the Infinity Saga, and the second one will continue to do so, but it will also dip fingers into the ongoing Multiverse Saga.

Rumored short descriptions for each Season 2 episode have surfaced on social media!

It’s been previously announced that the first episode of Season 2 will be titled “What If… Captain Carter Fought the Hydra Stomper?” The episode continues Captain Carter’s storyline from the first season, and it will depict Captain Carter going against Hydra Stomper, who turns out to be Steve Rogers, the love of her life who was presumed dead long ago.

Now, according to The Nerd Rage Podcast, here’s what we can reportedly expect from the other eight episodes of ‘What If…?’ Season 2.

• What if Gamora killed Thanos?
• What if the Tesseract landed in the Haudenosaunee Confederacy before the colonization of America?
• What if Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne fought the Red Guardian during the 1980s?
• What if Yondu delivered Star-Lord to Ego?
• What if Happy Hogan saved Christmas?
• What if Wanda had grown up watching musicals instead of sitcoms?
• What if Odin and Hela had faced Wenwu/the Mandarin?
• What if the Avengers had fought Surtur?

Additionally, CanWeGetSomeToast backed this report by saying these still aren’t official titles (except “What if Happy Hogan saved Christmas?”), but more like short descriptions of each episode. They also teased that Strange Supreme, who we met in the first season, will return in one of the upcoming episodes.

The first season of ‘What If…?’ premiered in the Summer of 2021, and following the recent reshuffling of the schedule, the second season is now expected to premiere around Christmas, so in December this year. Given its premise, this series could go on for as long as the MCU exists, so it’s unknown how many more seasons we can expect, but it’s always interesting how these crucial MCU moments occurred differently.
