A couple of months ago, there was talk that Marvel Studios was developing the ‘Midnight Sons’ project and that the upcoming ‘Blade’ reboot is supposed to tie into that project.

Midnight Sons would include characters that never appeared in The Avengers, and Doctor Strange allegedly would not be a part of the team.

Since then, Marvel Studios has experienced a series of bad projects, so they kind of shifted their goals a bit. Brad Winderbaum himself admitted that not all developed projects will ultimately go into production and be released, and we kind of just assumed that was the fate of ‘Midnight Sons.’

Now according to MyTimeToShineHello, the project is still on and the studio is eyeing Fede Álvarez to direct the movie.

Federico Álvarez is a Uruguayan filmmaker recognized for his work on movies like ‘Evil Dead’ (2013) and ‘Don’t Breathe’ (2016). He gained early acclaim for his short film ‘Ataque de pánico!’ (2009). Álvarez’s latest project is ‘Alien: Romulus’ currently in post-production.

Midnight Sons were formed by Ghost Riders Danny Ketch and Johnny Blaze, prompted by a vision, when they learned of Lilith’s resurrection and her plan to use her demon children, the Lilin, to conquer Earth. Lilith’s most loyal children, including Blackout, posed a significant threat. The team, including the Nightstalkers, Morbius, the Spirits of Vengeance, and the Darkhold Redeemers, is assembled to counter this threat, with Doctor Strange joining later.
