Rumored ‘Spider-Man 4’ Plot Is Setting Up Peter Parker’s Darkest Storyline Yet

MCU has quite a slate of movies coming up, even though Marvel Studios has hit a rough patch with the last couple of projects. There have been talks about releasing fewer projects, as fans are definitely becoming tired of shows and movies of lower quality; still, if one character always managed to drag people to movies, it’s Spider-Man, by far the most profitable Marvel franchise, no matter the product you’re looking at.

We know that the script for the movie is not yet completed, and the studio is currently looking for a director following Watt’s leave from the project, but some tidbits regarding the story are known.

Industry insider and frequent leaker Alex Perez recently addressed the storyline of the upcoming web-slinger flick. According to the plot he presented Peter Parker will face some emotional and mental demons in his next standalone installment.

It’s trauma, PTSD and a whole lot of nightmares. Lots of stressful nights and being unable to sleep, using Spider-Man as a coping mechanism so he doesn’t have to deal with the nightmares of his past. Y’all are finally getting that depressed Peter Parker y’all wanted.

This sort of aligns with previous reports that the ‘Spider-Man 4’ story will be more grounded in nature, but with a Multiversal twist. There has been some talk that Feige wants to do something else with the upcoming movie, considering that the bar is raised pretty high following ‘No Way Home.’

The script for ‘Spider-Man 4’ is still not finished, but the movie is currently aiming to start production in late 2024, which means that we can expect the movie sometime in 2026, if not later.
