Rumors Shed Light on Where Exactly ‘Fantastic Four’ Takes Place as the Movie Gets Filming Date Update

Ever since the announcement of ‘The Fantastic Four’ reboot, fans have been beyond excited to see Marvel’s first family on-screen, and this is why we are closely following all developments related to the movie.

Recently, the release date for the movie was announced as well as the cast. Pedro Pascal will be MCU’s new Reed Richards, with Vanessa Kirby taking on the role of Sue Storm. The Thing and the Human Torch will be played by Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Joseph Quinn respectively.

Little is known about the plot of the movie, but many fans and industry insiders speculated that it will be set in the past, with some reports also suggesting that young Franklin Richards will be included in the movie. Now Alex Perez, notable insider and leaker posted that the ‘Fantastic Four’ will take place in the alternate reality. This makes sense considering that it’s the easiest way to explain why the team wasn’t around when Earth, and the Universe as a whole were threatened by Thanos and all the massive dangers that came before him or after him.

Perez also confirmed that the filming will begin in August.

The whole story with the ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot started back in December 2017, when Disney announced plans to acquire 21st Century Fox which gave Marvel Studios the control of properties such as Marvel’s first family and X-Men. In 2019 the acquisition was finalized and the first plans to reboot the original trilogy gave rise.

Later that same year, Feige announced that a reboot was in development and 3 years would pass until we got the news that Wats was supposed to direct the movie, in 2022 Wats decided to leave the project only to be replaced by Shankman in September 2022. Due to the multiple delays and SAG-AFTRA strikes, production had to be rescheduled for January 2024 in London, however, the movie failed to meet that date as well. The whole cast was confirmed last month. ‘The Fantastic Four’ is scheduled to be released on July 25, 2025.
