Ryan Reynolds Stands Firm With Blake Lively As Baldoni Text Messages Draw Attention
Ryan Reynolds is not stepping back as his family gets pulled into a growing legal fight. As new court papers come out, it is clear he is choosing to stand right next to his wife, Blake Lively.
Some of Ryan’s private text messages were recently unsealed as part of Blake’s legal battle with her former co-star Justin Baldoni. The messages showed Ryan using strong language about Baldoni, which quickly grabbed headlines. Instead of trying to soften the situation, Ryan’s team made it clear that he has no regrets.
A spokesperson for the actor spoke to Puck News on January 27 and said Ryan was simply doing what any husband would do. Yes, Ryan got involved — what husband wouldn’t support his wife and the mother of his children, the representative said. According to the spokesperson, Ryan watched Blake struggle while filming her movie and felt she was treated badly after speaking up about what she described as s**** harassment on set.
The rep went even further and said Ryan feels he did not push back enough at the time. If anything, Ryan feels like he wasn’t angry enough, they added. The source explained that Ryan saw his wife go through a painful experience and believed she was punished for telling her side of the story.
The unsealed texts also revealed how wide the situation spread behind the scenes. Some messages mentioned Johnny Depp, with Ryan reportedly comparing the situation to Depp’s past legal issues. Other texts showed Blake talking privately with her close friend Taylor Swift about how overwhelmed she felt. A source close to Ryan told reporters that he was rarely on the movie set and sent most of the texts while working on Deadpool & Wolverine.
The legal fight between Blake and Baldoni is expected to head to trial in May 2026, but Ryan is keeping busy in the meantime. He is currently working on several major projects. One of them is an R-rated animated film called Animal Friends, which includes a big cast with Jason Momoa, Aubrey Plaza, and Dan Levy. The movie is set to release on May 1.
Ryan is also developing Deadpool 4 after the huge success of his last Marvel film. On top of that, he has a Netflix project titled Eloise in the works and a voice role in The Ghost Billionaire alongside Kevin Hart and Melissa McCarthy.
Even with legal stress and personal messages becoming public, Ryan seems focused on two things: his work and his family. For now, he appears comfortable being seen as a husband who chose to step in rather than stay silent.
Do you think Ryan Reynolds was right to get involved, or should he have stayed out of the conflict between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni? Share your thoughts in the comments.
