San Diego Streets Are Turning Into an ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Billboard Ahead of Marvel’s Big Comic-Con Return
Marvel Studios has been playing a slow, deliberate game with ‘Avengers, Doomsday’ all year, doling out just enough to keep fans hungry without ever fully tipping its hand. That patience has made every new piece of promotional material feel like an event, especially with the film’s theatrical release still months away.
San Diego Comic Con has become the natural pressure valve for all that pent-up anticipation, and Marvel has treated the convention accordingly. The studio sat out Hall H entirely in 2025, but this year it is returning to its traditional Saturday night spotlight, giving fans their first real indication that the marketing machine is about to shift into a higher gear.
That shift is already visible on the streets surrounding the convention center. New promotional signage for ‘Avengers, Doomsday’ is currently being installed around the Gaslamp Quarter, with a large sidewalk banner featuring the film’s title rendered in a graffiti-style green script beneath the familiar Avengers A logo. The banner sits near existing convention advertising, adding to a wave of Doomsday branding that has been building around the area for weeks.
This new placement follows an earlier round of official Gaslamp lamppost banners that appeared back in June, which paired a subtler design featuring the Avengers bathed in green light with the official Comic-Con branding itself. Even the convention’s own logo received an eerie green overlay as part of that campaign, tying the con’s identity directly to the film for the length of the event.
The timing lines up closely with Marvel’s confirmed panel plans. The studio has locked in an hour long Hall H presentation for Saturday, July 25, marking its first appearance on that stage since Robert Downey Jr revealed his casting as Doctor Doom during a memorable panel moment back in 2024. That reveal remains one of the most talked about moments in the convention’s recent history, which adds extra weight to Marvel’s return this year.
Beyond the banners, Marvel’s presence at the show extends into retail as well, with licensed merchandiser Bioworld unveiling an immersive Doomsday-themed booth under its Heroes and Villains label. The booth draws inspiration from the X-Mansion’s appearance in previous promotional material, giving attendees another way to engage with the film’s world beyond the panel itself.
With San Diego Comic Con running from July 23 through July 26, fans are widely expecting the panel to bring the first full trailer for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ after a CinemaCon exclusive reel earlier this year drew strong reactions from attendees but never made its way online. Marvel has kept that footage tightly under wraps since April, and the growing banner campaign suggests the studio is finally ready to let the wider public see what all the hype has been building toward.
What are you most hoping Marvel reveals at San Diego Comic-Con for 'Avengers: Doomsday'?
For a film that unites heroes from three separate corners of the Marvel multiverse, the sheer scale of the San Diego promotional push feels fitting. Every new banner is one more signal that Marvel intends to make its Hall H return count.
