Sarah Michelle Gellar has built a strong career with many popular roles.

Most people still connect her name to Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but she has also worked in daytime TV, horror films, and family movies over the years.

Even with that success, she has been honest about one project she regrets. In past interviews and information shared on IMDb, Gellar spoke about the 1999 romantic comedy Simply Irresistible. The film followed a young woman whose cooking suddenly improves with the help of a strange magical twist, leading to a love story.

Looking back, Gellar did not hide her feelings about the movie. She said it was “just a bad choice.” She also explained that it came at the wrong time in her life. “For that, it was a great learning experience. I wasn’t ready to make that movie. I was too young. The script was not ready. I knew in my heart before I left to make it that I should back out.”

At the time, she was already well known on television, and that likely played a role in her being cast. The project had originally been considered for older actresses, but the studio wanted a younger lead. Gellar ended up taking the role at just 22 years old.

The movie did not succeed when it was released. It struggled at the box office and received weak reactions from critics. Many people also questioned the unusual story elements, which made it stand out in a negative way.

Despite that setback, Gellar continued to work and stayed popular with audiences. She has had other projects that did not land well, but they did not stop her career. Over time, she has shown that one mistake does not define everything.

Her comments also show how much she values trusting her instincts. She knew early on that something did not feel right, but still went ahead with the project.

It is refreshing to see an actor speak so openly about a regret. It makes her feel more real and honest. Everyone makes choices they wish they could change, even in big careers like hers.
