A Little History

Over one million years ago the Celestials conducted experiments on various species. From the experiments, many races were born. Of the born races, the Eternals stood out. The Eternals are beings who appear human and possess immense power. Sersi is an Eternal who is over 5,000 years old.

Sersi’s story starts around the time of the Trojan War. During this time, the Greek Hero Odysseus and his crew traveled to Aeaea or the island which Sersi called home. After threatening her, Sersi transformed Odysseus’s crew into pigs. Odysseus, with the help of Athena, managed to escape Sersi and together the two got her to turn his men back to normal. Odysseus then spent a year on Aeaea. During that year Sersi had a run in with Odysseus’s son, Telemachus. To this day, she considers Telemachus the love of her life.

More recently, the Celestials once again returned to Earth so as to judge its inhabitants. This, of course, also included their creations the Eternals and Deviants. She found herself caught up in the struggle between the races but didn’t particularly enjoy it. Instead, she found comfort in hosting parties for celebrities and the like. In fact, she often used her powers as a show for her guests with each believing that she had performed magic. 

Eventually, she joins the Avengers and remains happy while a part of the team. This, would not last, however, as she was driven insane by the reality-traveling being known as Proctor. Proctor was from another reality and came to confront this realities Sersi after his version decimated his world. She would beat Proctor and return to her own reality. This time, rather than rejoining the Avengers, she spent time in the Ultraverse until her sanity returned. After it returned, she returned to New York and now occasionally fights alongside the Avengers.
