Sharon Stone sat down for a chat on CBS Mornings, where she talked about how she feels about sex scenes in today’s movies and TV shows. The famous actress, who is about to join the cast of the popular show Euphoria for its third season, explained that she thinks modern media has become way too graphic.

She mentioned that she often finds herself reaching for the remote to skip past these moments because they are just too intense and don’t leave anything to the imagination. According to a report from The Daily Beast, Stone feels that the way sex is shown now is very blatant and harsh. She believes that a lot of the magic and mystery in storytelling is lost when everything is shown so clearly on the screen.

She said that she would much rather keep her own sense of wonder and desire alive instead of having it replaced by what she sees on television. So often now, when sex scenes come on TV, I fast-forward. I don’t want to see it, she explained during the interview.

Stone looked back at her big break in the 1992 movie Basic Instinct to show how things used to be different. She noted that her most famous scene in that film was actually incredibly short, which is why it caused such a huge stir at the time. Everyone was trying to figure out what they had actually seen because it was so quick.

It wasn’t even an entire frame of film, she said. And, so, people were desperately trying to figure it out. And I think that idea of, “Oh, my God.” This hope, this wonder, this mystery, this intrigue, this yearning is something that is what all of our profound sexuality is based in.

Even though that movie made her a massive star, Stone has been very honest about the fact that she was tricked into that specific scene. In her book titled The Beauty of Living Twice, she wrote about how she was told her underwear was just reflecting the light and wouldn’t actually show anything.

She didn’t realize the truth until she was in a room full of lawyers and agents watching a finished version of the film. That was how I saw my v***na-shot for the first time, long after I’d been told, “We can’t see anything — I just need you to remove your panties, as the white is reflecting the light, so we know you have panties on,” she wrote in her memoir.

When she finally saw what the director, Paul Verhoeven, had done, she was so angry that she went to the projection booth and slapped him. Now there are reports from Variety that a new version of Basic Instinct is being planned by Amazon MGM Studios. Stone does not seem very excited about the reboot and basically told the producers good luck with a bit of a sarcastic tone.

Aside from her thoughts on her old movies, Stone is keeping very busy with new projects in 2026. She is getting ready for her role in Euphoria and recently finished working on the action movie Nobody 2 with Bob Odenkirk.

She also has a romantic movie called What About Love that people seem to really like. Even with all this new work, she still believes that Hollywood should try to bring back more of that old-school mystery she loves so much.
