‘Silo’ Season 3 Trailer Drops and It’s Time to Go Back to the Beginning
Apple TV’s underground dystopian drama has been one of the most compelling science fiction series of the past few years, pulling audiences deep into a world where humanity’s last survivors cling to life inside a vast subterranean structure, governed by rules they cannot question and truths they are forbidden to seek.
Based on Hugh Howey’s bestselling book series, ‘Silo’ follows the lives of 10,000 people living in an underground bunker to escape a seemingly toxic wasteland outside, with those who seek the truth facing deadly consequences. It is the kind of show that earns its devoted fanbase episode by episode, and the wait for the next chapter has felt very long indeed.
The dystopian drama has been well-received by critics, sitting at a high 90% on Rotten Tomatoes, and has already been renewed for a final fourth season. That critical goodwill makes every new piece of footage feel like a genuine event, and Apple TV has now delivered something fans have been hungry for since the brutal cliffhanger that closed out the second run of episodes.
A full new trailer for ‘Silo’ Season 3 has arrived, and it offers the most complete picture yet of where the story is headed. The trailer reveals that Juliette made it out alive after being locked in the incinerator at the end of Season 2, though she is far from unaffected. She has had no memories for three months, and as she confesses, “I look at myself in the mirror, and I don’t even know who’s looking back at me.” It is a haunting new direction for one of television’s most tenacious protagonists.
The trailer also confirms a surprise new role for Rebecca Ferguson’s Juliette, elevating her into a public leadership position that seemed nearly unimaginable in the early episodes of the first season, as she is now addressed as “Madam Mayor.” That shift in status promises a very different kind of pressure on a character whose story has always been defined by her fight to survive from below.
The 10-episode season will premiere on July 3 and serve as the penultimate installment, with Season 4 already well on its way to completion. Alongside the present-day storyline, season 3 will draw on ‘Shift,’ the second book in Howey’s trilogy, exploring life before the silos through flashback storylines set roughly 300 years earlier.
New cast members joining the returning ensemble include Laura Innes, Jessica Brown Findlay, Morven Christie, Reed Birney, Matt Craven, and Colin Hanks in a recurring role, alongside Ashley Zukerman and Jessica Henwick, who debuted in the Season 2 finale.
Rebecca Ferguson herself teased earlier this year that the show gets “better and better,” saying she finds it unusual for a series to grow and advance its stories the way ‘Silo’ does rather than simply tapering off. With the penultimate season now locked in and a full trailer making the rounds, that enthusiasm feels well-placed. Seasons 3 and 4 were shot concurrently, meaning fans may not have to wait another lengthy stretch once this summer’s run concludes.
Are you ready for Juliette to reclaim her identity and uncover the origins of the silo, and do you think her stepping into the Mayor’s role will be the key to finally unlocking the truth buried at the heart of the story?
