‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Is About to Cross $2.4 Billion at the Global Box Office
Tom Holland’s fourth solo outing as the wall-crawler has spent the summer doing something few blockbusters ever manage: setting new records almost every single week without slowing down. ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day‘ has continued adding milestone after milestone to its résumé since opening at the end of July, and its Labor Day weekend performance shows the film still has plenty of momentum left.
That momentum has kept ticket sales remarkably steady even as summer gives way to the traditionally slower September moviegoing season. Few films manage to maintain this kind of staying power more than a month into release, yet Sony and Marvel’s latest Spidey adventure keeps finding new ways to defy expectations.
That staying power has now put the film on track for another major benchmark. ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ is now on track to cross $2.4 billion at the global box office this weekend, continuing an extraordinary run that has already made it one of the biggest theatrical releases of the year.
As of the film’s 35th day in theaters, ‘Brand New Day’ had grossed $899.8 million domestically and $2.34 billion worldwide, putting the $2.4 billion threshold well within reach over the coming days. The film’s Labor Day performance alone contributed significantly to that total, with a $22 million domestic take on the holiday helping push the summer season toward a potential all-time record of $4.76 billion.
The film’s box office dominance was evident from its opening weekend, when it captured a record-setting $360 million in North America and a staggering $932 million globally, before crossing $1 billion worldwide in just six days. That pace made it the second-fastest film ever to reach $2 billion, achieving the milestone in just 17 days, compared to the 11 days it took ‘Avengers: Endgame’ to hit the same mark.
Domestically, ‘Brand New Day’ has become just the second film in history to cross $900 million, trailing only ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ and doing so faster than any film before it. With projections suggesting the film could ultimately land somewhere between $950 million and 1.02 billion domestically, there’s genuine speculation about whether it might eventually challenge ‘The Force Awakens’ for the all-time domestic crown.
Globally, the film now ranks as the eighth-biggest worldwide release of all time, a remarkable achievement for a fourth entry in an ongoing franchise rather than a fresh blockbuster debut. Its consistent weekend-over-weekend holds have remained unusually strong compared to typical superhero sequels, which tend to see steeper drop-offs after their opening frames.

With Resident Evil set to open in the coming weeks and ‘Practical Magic 2’ also on the release calendar, some box office analysts have speculated ‘Brand New Day’ could eventually get pushed out of the top spot at the domestic box office, though its overall run has already cemented it as one of 2026’s defining theatrical successes regardless of how the coming weeks play out.
The film’s overseas performance has been equally strong, with a running international cume of $1.442 billion contributing heavily to its worldwide total. That combination of domestic and international strength has made ‘Brand New Day’ a genuine outlier among modern blockbusters, especially given how rare it’s become for a fourth installment in a long-running franchise to outperform its predecessors this dramatically.
With the film now closing in on $2.4 billion globally and still showing strong legs more than a month into release, ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ looks set to remain one of the biggest box office stories of the year for weeks to come.
