Advance ticket sales have become their own kind of storytelling in Hollywood, painting a clear picture of anticipation long before a film ever hits its opening weekend. For Sony and Marvel’s latest Spider-Man outing, that story has been building into something genuinely historic.

Presale momentum for the film has been snowballing for weeks, fueled by a global promotional tour that carried Tom Holland and Zendaya through cities including Madrid, Berlin, Rome, Paris, London, Mexico City, and Shanghai. That kind of relentless international push appears to have paid off in a major way.

According to Global Box Office, ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ has already crossed $200 million at the global box office, and its international rollout hasn’t even fully begun yet. Presales reportedly surged significantly in just the past forty-eight hours, adding fresh momentum right as the film heads into its final stretch before release.

That surge builds on a presale run that’s already broken multiple records across individual markets. Domestic advance sales alone have crossed $60 million according to tracking data, with worldwide presales surpassing $120 million even before the film’s July 31 release date. Fandango previously confirmed the film posted the platform’s biggest first-day presale of 2026, outpacing even Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’.

That domestic strength has been mirrored overseas in market after market. The film is reportedly posting the best presales for any release this decade in both the United Kingdom and Australia, with the UK tracking toward a $35 million to $45 million opening weekend and Australia projected to clear $20 million. In China, presale revenue on ticketing platform Maoyan had already surpassed 30 million renminbi, or roughly $4.4 million, well ahead of release, with some trackers projecting the film could become the first live-action Hollywood release since 2021 to cross $100 million during its opening weekend there.

That kind of global reach has pushed some outlets to project a worldwide opening weekend as high as $800 million, according to GlobalBoxOffice’s figures reported by Dark Horizons, with over $300 million of that coming from the domestic market alone. If that projection holds, it would represent the second-biggest global opening weekend in box office history, trailing only ‘Avengers: Endgame’s’ $1.2 billion debut.

That kind of trajectory is especially notable given the film is achieving these numbers without access to domestic IMAX screens, which remain committed to ‘The Odyssey’ through mid-August. Director Destin Daniel Cretton has leaned into the anticipation throughout the promotional rollout, framing the film as a potential emotional culmination point for Holland’s version of Peter Parker.

Much of the film’s scale has clearly resonated with audiences well before release, driven by its ensemble of six confirmed villains, the return of Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, and Frank Castle’s Punisher making his first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That combination appears to have translated directly into the kind of advance demand studios rarely see outside a handful of the biggest releases in franchise history.

With the film’s international rollout just getting started and momentum still climbing by the hour, ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ looks positioned to deliver one of the biggest box office weekends the industry has seen in years.
