‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Just Did in 25 Days What Took ‘Avengers: Endgame’ 140
Marvel Studios has spent years chasing the kind of box office dominance it enjoyed before the pandemic reshaped moviegoing habits, and few films have carried that weight quite like the studio’s Avengers-sized tentpoles once did. For a long time, ‘Avengers: Endgame’ stood as the unshakable benchmark against which every subsequent Marvel release was measured.
That benchmark has been under serious pressure all summer. ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ arrived with massive expectations following its record-breaking opening weekend, and rather than settling into a typical post-debut decline, the film has continued piling up milestones week after week at a pace that’s caught even seasoned box office trackers off guard.
Now the numbers are telling an even more dramatic story about just how fast that momentum has moved. ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day‘ reached $858 million at the domestic box office in just 25 days, according to MovieHub, compared to the 140 days it took ‘Avengers: Endgame’ to hit that same figure back in 2019. That gap illustrates just how differently these two Marvel blockbusters built their audiences over time.
Endgame’s $858.3 million domestic total came at the very end of its theatrical run, the product of a steady, extended box office march following its record-setting 2019 debut. ‘Brand New Day,’ by contrast, hit that same number as essentially a mid-run milestone, with the film continuing to add tens of millions of dollars in additional grosses each subsequent weekend.
That speed has already reshaped the all-time domestic chart in a matter of weeks. ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s’ North American total now ranks third all-time, trailing only ‘Avengers: Endgame’s’ $858.3 million and ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ domestic record of $936.6 million, and it’s currently tracking roughly $40 million ahead of where ‘The Force Awakens’ stood at the same point in its own theatrical run.
The film’s opening weekend alone set the tone for everything that followed. ‘Brand New Day’ debuted to $360 million domestically, officially surpassing ‘Avengers: Endgame’s’ previous opening record of $357.1 million, according to Deadline. It also became the fastest film ever to reach $500 million domestically, hitting that mark in just seven days compared to Endgame’s eight.

Globally, the film has continued climbing the all-time rankings as well, recently passing ‘The Force Awakens’ to become the sixth-highest-grossing film in cinema history with a worldwide total of $2.22 billion. Starring Tom Holland alongside Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, and Mark Ruffalo, the Destin Daniel Cretton-directed film has proven itself a genuine phenomenon rather than simply a strong opening weekend performer.
Endgame still holds a commanding lead worldwide, with its lifetime global total sitting at $2.799 billion compared to Brand New Day’s current $2.22 billion, a gap of roughly half a billion dollars that reflects just how much stronger the 2019 Avengers finale performed internationally. Domestically, though, the story increasingly belongs to Spider-Man.
With Marvel’s ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ now looming as the studio’s next major test this December, the question shifting through fan circles is whether that film can match or exceed what ‘Brand New Day’ has managed to pull off, or whether Spider-Man has genuinely cemented himself as the MCU’s biggest individual draw.
Is Spider-Man: Brand New Day now the new box office standard for Marvel?
