Marvel has spent the past several months slowly peeling back the curtain on what Peter Parker’s next chapter actually looks like, doling out just enough footage to keep speculation running without giving away the full picture.

Every new clip has added another piece to a puzzle that already includes a rampaging Hulk, a returning Punisher, and a mystery villain fans still cannot quite agree on. The latest teaser adds a little more chaos to that mix, and it arrives with a genuinely funny line to go along with it.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day‘ picks up 4 years after the events of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home,’ following Peter Parker as he lives entirely alone in a world that no longer remembers who he is.

Having erased himself from the memories of everyone he loves, Peter has thrown himself completely into life as Spider-Man, a decision that comes with mounting pressure and a mysterious physical transformation threatening to spiral out of his control. Destin Daniel Cretton directs the film from a script by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, taking over behind the camera for Jon Watts.

The newest teaser catches Spider-Man swinging through a debris-strewn city. Later, Spider-Man asks Punisher whether he is just trying to get out of fighting the Hulk. It is a small, self-aware joke tucked into a moment of genuine citywide destruction, and it fits the pattern this marketing campaign has leaned into all along, treating Peter’s latest crisis with just enough humor to cut through the chaos.

That chaos centers on Mark Ruffalo’s return as Bruce Banner, who resurfaces this time as an ally attempting to help Peter suppress a strange mutation currently taking over his Spider-Man abilities.

Recent trailers have shown Banner demonstrating a device meant to keep him from transforming, only for the Hulk to break loose during the film, regardless, setting off one of the movie’s biggest and most anticipated set pieces. Jon Bernthal also returns as Frank Castle, with earlier footage showing the Punisher opening fire on the Hulk mid-battle while Spider-Man swings directly into the fray wearing a modified Shocker gauntlet.

Much of the mystery still surrounds Sadie Sink’s unnamed character, who trailers have repeatedly hinted may be responsible for triggering the Hulk’s rampage in the first place, possibly even controlling his movements throughout the fight. Online speculation has pointed toward Jean Grey as her likely identity, though Marvel has kept that detail firmly under wraps despite months of teaser footage circling around her role. A recently leaked excerpt from the film’s official art book did confirm one detail, revealing that the creative team ultimately settled on keeping Hulk in his familiar green form rather than introducing a grey variation some fans had been expecting.

Beyond the Hulk confrontation, the film brings back Zendaya as MJ and Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, both now several years removed from their college graduations, alongside Michael Mando reprising his role as Scorpion. With Peter navigating a world that has forgotten him entirely while simultaneously fending off one of his most dangerous physical transformations yet, ‘Brand New Day’ is shaping up to be one of the busiest entries in the wall crawler’s filmography to date.

What Are You Most Excited To See In 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day'?

Early tracking for the film has already generated significant buzz, with some projections putting a domestic opening in the range of $180 million to $190 million, while other industry insiders have suggested the film could open considerably higher depending on how the final marketing push lands. With ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ set to swing into theaters on July 31, fans will not have to wait much longer to see exactly how Peter’s fight against the Hulk plays out.
