‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Just Set the Biggest Hollywood Presale Overseas Since 2023
Hollywood releases have historically struggled to move the needle in India compared to homegrown blockbusters, with only a handful of franchise titles ever managing to generate genuine mainstream excitement in the market. That pattern appears to be shifting dramatically as one particular release continues shattering expectations well before its actual theatrical debut.
That release is ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day,’ which has spent the past several weeks steadily climbing India’s advance booking charts in ways trade watchers are calling genuinely unusual. With the film still five days away from its July 30 release, presale momentum has continued accelerating rather than plateauing, a pattern that typically only happens in the final stretch before major openings.

According to booking data shared online, the film has now recorded the best Hollywood presale performance in India since August of 2023, surpassing even the final BookMyShow tally posted by ‘Deadpool and Wolverine.’ Ticket sales tracked through BookMyShow have already crossed five hundred thousand, with the film adding tens of thousands of new bookings daily as the release date approaches.
According to Koimoi, the film registered a staggering sixty point one four thousand tickets sold in a single twenty-four-hour period, marking the highest single-day total since advance bookings first opened in India. That surge pushed the film past the final BookMyShow presale numbers previously set by Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey,’ which had sold over three hundred forty thousand tickets in its own advance booking run and ranked as the fourth highest Hollywood presale total on the platform.
‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ has now taken over that fourth place position outright, leaving ‘The Odyssey’ behind and setting its sights on ‘The Conjuring,’ which currently holds the fifth highest all-time Hollywood presale total in India with four hundred forty-three thousand tickets sold. Given the current pace of bookings, trade watchers expect the film to comfortably clear that benchmark before release.
Beyond BookMyShow alone, the film has also posted strong numbers across India’s national cinema chains, registering over one hundred sixty thousand ticket sales through PVR INOX and Cinepolis combined. According to Sacnilk, the film has been selling nearly two thousand tickets every hour since advance bookings first opened, with trade observers specifically noting how unusual it is for that kind of steady momentum to hold more than a week ahead of release without the typical spikes tied to individual promotional pushes.
That sustained demand has fueled ambitious opening day projections, with some trackers suggesting the film could target a sixty crore opening in India. That kind of total would position ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ as the second biggest Marvel Cinematic Universe opening in the country, trailing only ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ which still holds the record with an estimated sixty-five crore gross on its opening day.
This surge in India follows a broader pattern of record-breaking presale momentum the film has generated internationally. In China, advance booking revenue has already surpassed the combined presale totals of both ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3,’ setting a new post-pandemic record for comic book movie presales in that market as well.
What will Spider-Man: Brand New Day open to in India?
With five full days still remaining before the film’s India release and booking momentum showing no signs of slowing down, ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ appears well positioned to close out its advance sales run as one of the strongest Hollywood presale performances the Indian market has seen in years. Given how consistently the numbers have climbed day over day, reaching or even surpassing ‘The Conjuring’s’ benchmark increasingly looks like a realistic outcome before opening weekend even arrives.
