‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Keeps Swinging Higher as Box Office Run Shows No Signs of Slowing

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is proving that its huge opening weekend was no fluke. The Marvel and Sony movie continued to pull in large crowds as it entered its second weekend in theaters, giving it another strong boost at the domestic box office.

According to Variety, the Tom Holland-led superhero movie made $43 million in North America on Friday alone from 4,487 theaters. The film is expected to finish the weekend with around $143 million domestically, which would represent a drop of roughly 60% from its record-setting $360 million opening.

If those estimates hold, Brand New Day will have collected about $653 million in North America after only two weekends.

The movie has also been moving incredibly fast on the worldwide box office chart. Earlier in the week, Brand New Day passed Toy Story 5 to become the highest-grossing movie released in 2026 so far.

Toy Story 5 had been in theaters since June and eventually reached $1.067 billion worldwide. Brand New Day needed only seven days to pass that number, reaching approximately $1.155 billion globally.

The movie crossed the $1 billion mark after just six days. Only Avengers: Endgame reached the milestone faster, taking three days to reach about $1.2 billion.

That puts Brand New Day in an impressive position despite facing several other major movies during its run. The film’s strong second-weekend numbers suggest audiences are continuing to show up even after the huge crowds that turned out for its opening.

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey remained in second place domestically. The epic earned $8.8 million on its fourth Friday and is expected to make around $30.5 million over the full weekend. That would bring its North American total to roughly $460 million.

Several new movies also arrived in theaters, but none came close to challenging the two major holdovers.

One Night Only had the strongest debut among the newcomers. The romantic comedy made $2.8 million on Friday from 3,012 theaters and is expected to finish the weekend with about $6 million. The film stars Callum Turner and Monica Barbaro and follows two people who meet on a very unusual night.

Super Troopers 3 opened with $1.7 million from 2,760 theaters and is projected to make around $3.9 million for the weekend. Meanwhile, Ice Cream Man, the Eli Roth horror movie about a dangerous ice cream vendor, earned $1 million Friday from 1,090 locations.

Toy Story 5 landed in fifth place with another $1.15 million on Friday. The animated sequel is expected to add around $4.1 million during the weekend, taking its domestic total to approximately $470.5 million.

For Brand New Day, however, the bigger story is the speed of its climb. With more than $1.1 billion already collected worldwide and another major domestic weekend ahead, Spider-Man’s latest adventure is showing that its box office run still has plenty of momentum.
