Marvel fans have spent months piecing together what Peter Parker’s world looks like after the identity reveal that closed out ‘Spider-Man No Way Home.’ MJ is now with another man, and she’s still friends with Peter’s former best friend Ned, a detail that already reshaped how people are approaching ‘Spider-Man Brand New Day.’ The film has been building anticipation for over a year, and every new scrap of footage has only added to the pressure surrounding its release.

Tom Holland reportedly says everything in ‘Spider-Man Brand New Day’ starts to go “really crazy” around the 26 minute mark, and that’s apparently where Peter Parker sees MJ with another man for the first time on screen. If accurate, that would mean the emotional gut punch fans have been bracing for arrives much earlier in the film than many expected.
The setup makes sense given what’s already been confirmed about the story. Peter Parker is back as Spider-Man, not that anyone remembers him, since the mind wipe spell from ‘No Way Home’ erased his identity from the world entirely. That spell was pulled from the comic storyline of the same name, where Parker’s original deal with Mephisto reboots his world and dissolves his marriage to MJ, so seeing MJ move on romantically tracks with the source material’s spirit even if the specifics differ.
