Tom Holland’s web-slinger has spent the better part of two weeks demolishing box office expectations, and the numbers keep climbing without any sign of slowing down. ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ opened to a record-shattering $360 million domestically before adding a second-best-ever global debut of $932 million, immediately signaling this wasn’t going to be a typical superhero rollout.

That momentum has carried the film to milestone after milestone across its opening weeks. ‘Brand New Day’ became the fastest movie ever to cross $500 million domestically, the fastest to reach $700 million, and one of only a handful of films ever to pass $1 billion worldwide within a single week of release, a pace matched only by ‘Avengers: Endgame.’

Now the film is on track to clear its most personal milestone yet. ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ is set to become the highest-grossing Spider-Man movie of all time this weekend, officially surpassing 2021’s ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ in the process.

Internationally, ‘Brand New Day’ has already climbed to $1.108 billion, edging past ‘No Way Home’s’ full overseas haul of $1.106 billion to become Sony’s biggest release ever outside North America. Domestically, the film has also become the second Spider-Man movie ever to cross $700 million, trailing only ‘No Way Home’ itself on that particular list, and setting up this weekend’s expected overtake of the franchise’s previous box office champion.

What makes this achievement particularly notable is the context surrounding each film’s release. ‘No Way Home’ benefited enormously from the buzz surrounding Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s returns as previous Peter Parkers, alongside a total lack of major competition and audiences eager to return to theaters following pandemic-related shutdowns, conditions that helped push the film to a $1.9 billion worldwide total.

‘Brand New Day,’ by comparison, has achieved similar numbers without that same multiverse nostalgia factor driving ticket sales, relying instead on consistently strong daily performances that have kept pace with, and occasionally exceeded, even ‘Endgame’s’ historic trajectory. The film has already climbed past titles like ‘Inside Out 2,’ ‘Jurassic World,’ ‘The Lion King,’ and ‘The Avengers’ to enter the top 10 highest-grossing films in global box office history.

Worldwide, ‘Brand New Day’ currently sits at roughly $1.81 billion and continues climbing, putting it within reach of catching up to ‘No Way Home’s’ full lifetime total in the relatively near future if its momentum holds. For a franchise many assumed had already peaked with the multiverse-spanning nostalgia of its predecessor, proving there was room to climb even higher marks a genuinely unexpected turn.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and also starring Zendaya, Sadie Sink, and Jon Bernthal, ‘Brand New Day’ has managed to become the highest-grossing movie of 2026 in just seven days, all while maintaining strong reviews that have kept audience enthusiasm from fading the way many blockbusters typically do past their opening weekend. That combination of critical and commercial success suggests the film’s records may not stop with simply topping its own franchise.

With no major competition on the release calendar through the rest of the month, ‘Brand New Day’ appears well-positioned to keep extending its lead as the definitive box office champion of the Spider-Man franchise.

Do you think ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ deserves to become the highest-grossing Spider-Man movie ever?
