The Tom Holland sequel opened with the biggest domestic debut ever recorded, and rather than settling into a normal post-opening decline, it has kept climbing the all-time charts at a pace nobody quite expected.

That momentum has been fueled almost entirely by weekday performance, an area where blockbusters typically fade fast once the opening weekend excitement wears off. Industry trackers note that ‘Brand New Day’ is projected to become the fastest film ever to cross the $700 million domestic mark, doing so in just 13 days, which would also mean surpassing ‘Black Panther’s’ entire $700.4 million domestic total to claim the sixth spot on the all-time list.

The comparisons to ‘Endgame’ have become the clearest way to measure just how unusual this run has been. ‘Brand New Day’ finished its opening weekend only about $3 million ahead of the Russo brothers’ film at the same point, a gap that has reportedly widened dramatically since then, with some tracking putting the current advantage north of $47 million.

That widening lead matters because it directly affects how high the film’s total domestic haul could climb. If the roughly $50 million advantage over ‘Endgame’ holds through Wednesday, industry watchers believe the film’s path to a $900 million domestic finish becomes effectively locked in, regardless of how the weekends ahead perform compared to typical blockbuster patterns.

From there, the conversation shifts toward genuinely rare territory. Should weekday strength hold up through the end of summer, some trackers believe ‘Brand New Day’ could realistically challenge ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ for the title of highest-grossing domestic release of all time, a record that has stood since 2015 at $936.6 million.

For context, only a handful of films in history have ever crossed the $2 billion mark worldwide, a group that includes ‘Avatar,’ ‘Endgame,’ ‘Avatar: The Way of Water,’ ‘Titanic,’ ‘The Force Awakens,’ ‘Infinity War,’ and 2025’s Chinese animated hit ‘Ne Zha 2.’ With a reported production budget around $225 million and no major competition on the release calendar, industry watchers have increasingly floated ‘Brand New Day’ as a potential eighth member of that club.

None of these projections are locked in yet, and box office momentum can shift quickly once a film moves further from its opening weekend. Still, with the film already reshaping expectations for what a modern theatrical run can achieve, the numbers arriving later this week are expected to offer the clearest picture yet of just how far ‘Brand New Day’ can climb.
