‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Star Tom Holland Reveals His Honest First Impression of Zendaya

Tom Holland has opened up about his relationship with Zendaya and explained why she has become such an important part of his life. In a new interview, the Spider-Man star spoke warmly about his co-star and partner, describing their relationship as a source of support and stability in an industry that can often be difficult.

The comments came from Holland’s interview with Esquire, where the actor discussed his career, his return as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and his personal life. While talking about his experience working with Zendaya, Holland shared how much their relationship means to him and why he feels lucky to have someone who understands the unique pressures of fame.

Holland and Zendaya first met while working on Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2016. Zendaya plays Michelle Jones-Watson, also known as MJ, Peter Parker’s love interest in the Marvel films. Over the years, their friendship grew into a romantic relationship, although the two kept much of their personal life private for several years.

Looking back at their first meeting, Holland remembered being excited about the possibility of working with Zendaya. He praised her audition and said she immediately stood out to the production team.

“Obviously, I was super excited at the prospect of working with her and getting to know her. She smashed her audition out the park and got the part before she’d even left the room. I remember when she closed the door to leave, [producer] Amy Pascal was immediately like, ‘Well, she’s getting the job,’” Holland said.

The actor explained that their relationship has helped him handle the challenges that come with being a public figure. He said having someone who understands the pressures of acting, fame, and constant attention has been extremely valuable.

“Our business can present very stressful situations and it’s really nice to have a bedrock of a relationship that will stand the test of time,” Holland said.

He added that he and Zendaya are able to support each other because they share similar experiences. According to Holland, it is difficult for people outside the entertainment industry to fully understand what their lives are like.

“We can support each other in ways that only we can, because only we understand really what it’s like to live this life,” he explained.

Holland also spoke about how safe and happy he feels with Zendaya, saying that their connection is something very special to him.

“For me, I found my person. She’s my best friend, and I’m the happiest I ever have been when I’m with her, but I also have never felt so supported and safe, ever. Period,” he said.

The couple became the center of major public attention in 2021 after photos of them kissing were released, confirming their romance after years of speculation. Since then, they have continued to keep their relationship mostly private while occasionally sharing their support for each other publicly.

Zendaya has also been a major part of Holland’s Spider-Man journey. The pair are set to appear together again in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the fourth film in Holland’s Spider-Man series. Holland has said he remains passionate about the character and has worked closely on making the new movie something fans will enjoy.

While their careers continue to grow, Holland said having Zendaya by his side has made the experience much easier. For him, their relationship is not just about being two famous actors, it is about having a partner who understands him and supports him through every part of his life.
