‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s’ Box Office Tracking Just Jumped Even Higher, and It Could Beat No Way Home

Marvel and Sony have spent months building anticipation for Tom Holland’s return as Spider-Man, and the box office projections keep climbing right alongside that hype. What started as a solid but conservative early forecast has since ballooned into something genuinely historic, with each new tracking update pushing the numbers further into record territory.

That momentum has been building steadily since the first presale numbers came in weeks ago, when ‘Brand New Day’ posted the best first-day advance sales for any film since ‘No Way Home’ itself back in 2021. Since then, virtually every update to the film’s box office projections has trended sharply upward.

According to reporting from box office trackers, ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ is now tracking to surpass ‘No Way Home’s’ box office revenue next week, with a domestic debut projected between $260 million and $300 million. That kind of range would put the film in direct competition with, or potentially ahead of, the franchise’s all-time domestic opening record.

For context, ‘No Way Home’ opened to $260.1 million domestically back in December 2021, a total that still stands as the second largest domestic opening in box office history behind only ‘Avengers: Endgame’s’ $357.1 million debut. Should ‘Brand New Day’ land anywhere near the high end of its current range, it would mark a genuine reshuffling of the franchise’s all time records.

That kind of trajectory represents a significant jump from earlier projections. Just weeks ago, tracking had the film pegged closer to $180 to $190 million domestically, a number that would have already represented the year’s biggest opening weekend. Since then, forecasts have climbed steadily through the $230 to $250 million range before reaching this latest, even higher projection.

Presale momentum appears to be driving much of that upward revision. Reports indicate the film’s advance ticket sales were already crazy heading into last weekend, but have since seen a massive new spike, suggesting genuine last-minute demand is accelerating well beyond initial expectations.

What makes this trajectory especially notable is that ‘Brand New Day’ is achieving these numbers without access to IMAX screens, which remain committed to Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’ through a three-week booking window. The film has instead relied on other premium large format screens to drive its box office performance, making its potential record-breaking run even more impressive given that format disadvantage.

Globally, the film is already positioned to comfortably clear the billion-dollar mark, which would make it the first MCU release to hit that milestone since ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ With China now open to the release, unlike ‘No Way Home,’ which never played there due to a controversial Statue of Liberty scene, ‘Brand New Day’ has a real shot at surpassing its predecessor’s massive $1.9 billion worldwide total as well.

With the film set to swing into theaters July 31, this latest tracking update suggests Marvel and Sony could be looking at one of the biggest opening weekends in box office history. Whether ‘Brand New Day’ ultimately claims the record from ‘No Way Home’ or simply comes remarkably close, this level of anticipation speaks volumes about just how much fans have been waiting for Peter Parker’s return.
