‘Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’ is the name of an upcoming live-action series that will expand the Star Wars universe. The series is currently scheduled for a 2024 premiere on Disney+ and was created by the duo consisting of Jon Watts and Christopher Ford.

Considering that the show has recently gotten a massive release update, we decided to summarize everything we know about the show in this neat guide.

The show will be a coming-of-age story

The series will follow a group of children, most likely Force-sensitive, who will have to go on an adventure if they want to return to their home planet, from which they got lost after a strange discovery. The children will most likely be chaperoned by Jude Law’s character. He will be the one to find the kids and guide them on their adventure, serving as both a guardian and a mentor figure to the youngest characters.

The story will feature a lot of similarities with children’s classics such as ‘The Goonies,’ but will be watchable for both children and adults, as there will be a similar element to the hit series ‘The Mandalorian,’ which also features an adult (Din Djarin) taking care of a baby (Grogu).

Much of the cast has been revealed but we don’t have the details

As we’ve already mentioned Jude Law will be taking on the role of “unnamed” so far force user. Other actors have been revealed but their respective roles within the show weren’t.

  • Jude Law portrays a Force-user.
  • Ryan Kiera Armstrong,
  • Robert Timothy Smith,
  • Ravi Cabot-Conyers,
  • Kyriana Kratter,
  • Tunde Adebimpe,
  • Kerry Condon
  • Jaleel White.

The show is scheduled for winter release this year

The show so far doesn’t have a set release date, but we do know that it’s going to be released in December 2024. The show will likewise consist of 8 episodes and will premiere on Disney+, presumably one episode per week.

The series was initially announced at the Star Wars Celebration in May 2022 for a 2023 release, with expectations of a November or December debut. However, by late 2023, it was revealed that the series would release in 2024. A filing for the first episode with the United States Copyright Office suggested an approximate release date in January 2024 which has so far been missed obviously.
