Star Wars: The Bad Batch‘ premiered with three episodes today. Following the first episode during which we could see Omega’s efforts to think of a plan to escape from Tantiss, the second episode showed us Hunter’s and Wrecker’s efforts to rescue her. Following their meeting with Lady Durand, Hunter, and Wrecker had the approximate location of Hemlock’s supposed lab, only once they arrived on the Jungle planet they found everything except for Omega’s and Hemlock’s lab. Primarily, they’ve found three clones that are in need of help as much as Omega is. Let’s see who Mox, Stak & Deke are.

  • Article Breakdown:
  • Mox, Stak & Deke were three abandoned defective clones who survived the bombing of a research facility after Hemlock decided to move his base of operations.
  • Deke, Mox & Stak were transferred from Kamino thinking they were about to receive more training but instead, they served as test subjects for Hemlock’s Project Necromancer experiments.
  • Once Max, Stak & Deke successfully helped Hunter & Wrecker escape the surface of the planet, they were taken to Pabu.

It’s unknown how long Mox, Stak & Deke were abandoned

Episode 2 of ‘Bad Batch’ Season 3 started with Hunter & Wrecker gathering intel on where to locate Hemlock’s lab. Lady Durand helped with this as she was eager to return the favor after Hunter and Wrecker delivered Pyke responsible for disgracing the Durand family. The coordinates that Lady Durand gave them were legit, but sadly, once Wrecker and Hunter landed on the surface of the Jungle planet, they noticed that Empire did a “scorched earth” approach on their base of operation and ordered orbital bombardment which pretty much decimated any clues on what happened to their research and what happened to Omega.

Hunter & Wrecker refused to believe that Omega was among the collateral victims even as they saw still smoldering ruins of what was once a research base. As they moved to approach the base, they were ambushed by two clones Deke and Stak.

Hunter and Wrecker immediately recognized that Deke & Stak were regular clones, just like Deke & Stak recognized that Wrecker and Hunter belonged to Clone Force 99 due to the fact that they were physically different. Stak & Deke were afraid that the empire sent them to finish them off and claimed that they were surviving on their own for who knows how long.

As soon as Wrecker & Hunter managed to convince the two clones that they meant no harm Stak & Deke decided to lead them to the third member of their small party, Mox. Mox, Stak & Deke explained that they were the only survivors of the bombardment after Hemlock decided to transfer his base. At first, the three clones believed that they were being transferred off Kamino in order to get more training, but as it turns out they were used in various research experiments for Hemlock’s project Necromancer. The three clones manage to survive because they escaped before the facility was destroyed.

They survived on the surface of the hostile planet due to being soldiers, however, their greatest threat wasn’t exactly something from nature, it was something that the empire created, Slither Vines, a species of highly aggressive omnivorous plant that had to capacity to reach giant proportions.

As soon as they reached their small cave, Wrecker and Hunter explained that they were looking for Omega, a clone girl. Deke never saw Omega around the lab but he did mention that he saw one functioning control panel within the ruined facility the last time he was going through the ruins in search of possible supplies. Deke decided to help Hunter & Wrecker in their search while Mox & Stak refused to endanger themselves to help somebody they didn’t even know.

Stak & Mox were about to escape the planet when sentimentality won

After Deke left for the ruins of the lab with Wrecker & Hunter, Stak & Mox decided to perhaps steal the Clone Force’s ship and escape the planet. At first, they have doubts about whether they are capable of abandoning their brother Deke but decide to at least attempt to escape. They were totally going to do it but Mox noticed Omega’s toys in the cockpit of the ship and realized that perhaps there was something more binding the clones together than pure duty.

Just at that time, Deke contacted Mox & Stak to ask for help since both he and Wrecker & Hunter were attacked by a nasty specimen of Slither Vines that was as giant as the ship, threatening to devour them.

After all, clones were rescued and narrowly escaped being devoured by the mutated toxic planet, Stak, Mox & Deke expressed that now that they defected from the empire they don’t know what their purpose in life is. Hunter promised them that they would have ample time to discover what they wanted to do but first, the three young clones would be transported to Pabu, an Island that traditionally served as safe haven from the empire.
