Stephen Amell (44) Dives in Shirtless for Exciting Baywatch Rescue Scene
Stephen Amell is diving into his latest role on the new Baywatch series, and he’s going all out. The 44-year-old actor was spotted jumping into the ocean for a high-energy rescue scene on March 31 in Redondo Beach. He went shirtless for the stunt, showing off the athletic build that fans have come to expect.
He wasn’t alone on set. Castmates Shay Mitchell, Jessica Belkin, and Thaddeus LaGrone joined him as they worked together to save a young girl from the waves. Production had a small scare earlier in the week when LaGrone injured his leg during a stunt on Monday. A source from the show told reporters that “LaGrone was OK and the incident did not interrupt the rest of the filming for the show.”
This reboot of Baywatch brings a new twist to the classic show. Amell plays a grown-up Hobie Buchannon, once the child from the original series. Now he’s a captain in charge of the lifesaving team. The story takes a turn when he meets Charlie, a daughter he never knew he had, who dreams of joining the elite rescue squad.
Supporting the new crew is Cody Madison, the legendary lifeguard from the original series. He now runs The Shoreline, the local bar and hangout, but still jumps in to help during tough rescues. According to the show’s synopsis, Cody “always offers free wings after a big save,” making sure the team has a place to relax after long days in the surf.
Amell has been keeping busy lately. He recently starred in the action-packed Code 8: Part II, the legal drama Suits: LA, and the second season of the wrestling series Heels. His ability to handle action and emotion has impressed showrunner Matt Nix, who is leading the Baywatch reboot for FOX.
The new series started filming in mid-March and is set to premiere during the 2026-2027 television season. The cast blends experienced actors with social media stars like Noah Beck and Livvy Dunne, creating a mix that’s already getting a lot of attention.
Amell’s fans are excited to see him back in the water, combining intense stunts with heartfelt storytelling. The actor said he enjoys the challenge of balancing the action scenes with the personal drama of the characters. This Baywatch reboot promises both thrills and emotional moments, giving a fresh take on the beloved show.
