‘Strength’ 30-Second Superman Spot Focuses on His True Power

Warner Bros. Pictures is set to release a new Superman movie on July 11, 2025. This film is directed and written by James Gunn and represents a fresh start for the Superman story as part of the new DC Universe. David Corenswet takes on the role of Clark Kent/Superman, while Rachel Brosnahan plays Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult is cast as the villain Lex Luthor.

A recent teaser, titled “Strength,” highlights Superman’s greatest power, his humanity. This approach gives the film a unique angle compared to earlier versions. The story focuses on Superman trying to balance his alien roots with the life he has with his human family in Smallville, Kansas. James Gunn mentioned that Clark is “madly in love” with Lois and is also dealing with new friendships among other superheroes who think he is naive.

Producer Peter Safran described this version of Superman as someone who stands for “truth, justice and the American way” and shows kindness in a world that often forgets it. David Corenswet’s portrayal blends inspiration from classic comic books and Christopher Reeve’s iconic Superman but with a younger, more personal feel.

Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane is described as smart and tough. She worked with real journalists to make her character believable and modern. Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor is a focused and obsessive villain who challenges Superman on many levels. Hoult said he wanted the character to be a real threat, drawing ideas from Steve Jobs and earlier comic book versions.

The film also introduces other superheroes like Mister Terrific, Metamorpho, Green Lantern, and Hawkgirl, adding depth to the growing DC Universe. Most of the filming happened in Georgia and Norway and finished in July 2024. The story takes inspiration from well-known comics like All-Star Superman by Grant Morrison.

Before this new film, Warner Bros. had plans for a sequel to Man of Steel (2013) with Henry Cavill returning as Superman. However, those plans changed after issues with the Justice League movie in 2017. James Gunn started fresh in 2022 with a new vision for Superman and the entire DC Universe. Gunn is now co-CEO of DC Studios and works closely with producer Peter Safran to shape this new chapter.

The cast also includes actors like Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, and Sara Sampaio. Newcomer Milly Alcock plays Supergirl, and Frank Grillo returns as Rick Flag Sr., linking this movie to other DC stories.

This new Superman film looks like a promising reboot with a focus on humanity and kindness in a tough world. I’m interested to see how James Gunn’s fresh take will be received by fans. What do you think? Will this new direction for Superman work? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
