Weekly release schedules have become something of a rarity in the streaming era, but HBO Max’s newest multiverse comedy is embracing that old-school format wholeheartedly. After delivering a premiere that left fans genuinely shaken, viewers are already counting down the days until Stuart Bloom’s next chaotic adventure.
That premiere arrived this week with ‘Stuart Fails to Save the Universe,’ the latest ‘Big Bang Theory’ spinoff centered on comic book store owner Stuart Bloom, once again played by Kevin Sussman. The series follows Stuart years after the original sitcom ended, still running his shop and dating Denise, until he accidentally damages a quantum device left behind by Sheldon and Leonard.
With episode one now streaming, fans are turning their attention to when the next chapter of Stuart’s multiverse rescue mission actually arrives. Episode two is set to premiere on July 30, continuing the show’s weekly rollout that will carry the season all the way through its finale.
That release pattern follows the same schedule set by the premiere itself, which debuted on July 23 at 9 p.m. ET, or 6 p.m. PT, exclusively on HBO Max. International audiences have generally received new episodes one day later, with most overseas markets seeing episode one on July 24 rather than the same Thursday release reserved for the United States.
Subsequent episodes are already mapped out for the remainder of the season, with new installments scheduled for August 6, August 13, August 20 and August 27, followed by September 3 and September 10 as the show builds toward its conclusion. The season finale, titled ‘Spoiler, Filmed Before a Live Studio Audience,’ is set to premiere on September 24, closing out the show’s ten episode run.
That weekly structure stands in contrast to the binge-friendly release model many streaming originals have adopted in recent years. Given that ‘The Big Bang Theory’ itself aired as a traditional weekly network sitcom for twelve seasons, the choice to space out episodes feels like a deliberate nod to that original viewing experience rather than a purely modern streaming approach.
Alongside Sussman, the series brings back Brian Posehn as geologist Bert Kibbler, Lauren Lapkus as Denise, and John Ross Bowie as physicist Barry Kripke, who also appears as an alternate-universe supreme ruler version of the character. The show sends this group traveling between different versions of their world in an effort to repair the multiverse before it collapses entirely.
Beyond its HBO Max home in the United States, the series has also secured a fairly broad international footprint. Confirmed availability includes NOW TV in the United Kingdom, Crave in Canada, and OSN Plus for audiences in the UAE, suggesting Warner Bros. Television is treating this spinoff as a global rollout rather than keeping it exclusive to domestic subscribers.
Casey Bloys, HBO and HBO Max’s content chief, previously framed the series as an effort to continue the ‘Big Bang Theory’ legacy while bringing a bolder creative voice to the franchise, according to comments included in the show’s original announcement press release. That ambition already showed itself clearly in the premiere’s willingness to take major narrative risks right out of the gate.
