We knew that the big focus of Superman & Lois Season 3 would be Intergang and their leader Bruno Mannheim. Bruno is a truly vile being no matter how much the showrunners try to humanize him, and in the last couple of episodes, we’ve gotten a glimpse into his backstory. Bruno was not the first leader of Intergang; he is simply the most successful one to date. He quickly rose to power following the demise of former crime-boss Boss Moxie. Since Moxie was a significant mention in this week’s episode, we’ve decided to analyze him in a bit more detail, especially the circumstances surrounding his death. Due to that, let’s see who Boss Moxie is & who killed him.

Boss Moxie was the former leader and founder of Intergang and Peia’s boss. Bruno proposed some deals and developed a strategy for him on how to deal with Lex Luthor and his treatment of Hob’s Bay. Unfortunately, Bruno was ambitious, and this led to a conflict between Moxie and Bruno after Moxie found out that Bruno had disobeyed him and went behind his back. Peia killed Boss Moxie after he made her choose between him and Bruno.

Boss Moxie wasn’t featured all that much in the show so far, which is understandable, considering that he is dead. Still, we can piece out the most important details that led to his fall from the flashbacks that detailed Bruno’s rise to power. If you’re interested in more, stay with us and keep reading!

Boss Moxie founded Intergang, but it truly started thriving under Bruno’s leadership

Bruno Mannheim is the villain of the third season of Superman & Lois. In the beginning, we know that he is a weapons dealer and experiments on criminals on the side, giving them superpowers.

However, nobody likes a 2D “purely evil” villain. This is why the show expanded on his origin and backstory in order to humanize him a bit. To give us insight into what transpired in Bruno’s past to turn him into a truly despicable human being.

We know that Bruno was born and raised in Hob’s Bay, one of the poorest areas of the Metropolis. The area was used and abused with little gain for its residents. Hob’s Bay was littered with toxic waste, which led to people getting sick with cancer. The economic aspects of the place were not promising as well, as most of the area lived in terrible poverty with few opportunities to improve their social situation.

Boss

Bruno saw the injustice of it all when his mother got sick with cancer. Intergang was already active in the area when Bruno was a young guy, but Boss Moxie led it. Boss Moxie was the founder and the leader of the first iterations of the Intergang, but he had little interest and competence to use his influence to benefit the people of Hob’s Bay. This changed with Bruno’s rise in power.

How did Bruno become the leader of Intergang?

Bruno was a good childhood friend and later a romantic interest of Peia, known as the supervillain Onomatopoeia who at that point already had superpowers and was a high-ranking member of Intergang under the leadership of Boss Moxie.

Bruno came to Peia with a business proposal for her boss to do something good for Hob’s Bay regarding business with Lex Luthor. She claimed it was a bad idea but decided to connect Bruno and Boss Moxie. Boss Moxie was intrigued by Bruno’s proposals, and after some time, he realized that Bruno was quickly advancing and gaining influence in his own gang.

Bruno often went behind Moxie’s back and approved things that shouldn’t be approved. He started earning money quickly and soon proposed to Peia, buying them a house to live in.

In one instance, Boss Moxie realized that Bruno was slowly replacing him as the crime boss. He started an argument with Bruno Mannheim since enough was enough. Peia was, at that point, still working as his right hand, and Moxie was aware of what she was capable of.

Peia superpowers

Bruno asked Peia to deal with Bruno, aka to kill him. Instead, she started killing Intergang members, and when only Bruno and Moxie were left, she had to make a choice.

She had status and security with Moxie, but Bruno promised her a stable future, a better future not just for the two of them but for Hob’s Bay as a whole. Peia brutally murdered Moxie using her sound-based powers, and from that day onward, Bruno rose as the current leader of Intergang.

Peai was crucial in his rise in power since having a superpowered individual work for you is powerful. He often used Peia to sort out his loose ends, even when she was already sick with cancer. However, it wasn’t about power with Bruno and Peia. He truly loved her, even before she could use her as a weapon.

How is Lex Luthor connected to Boss Moxie?

Lex Luthor was accused of killing Boss Moxie and answered for it due to a certain recording of his confession that he killed him. But, in the latest episode, it was revealed that things are not as they seem.

It was always suspicious how Bruno Mannheim rose to power so quickly once Moxie was dead and Lois Lane & Clark already had their suspicions.

When Sam Lane brought some classified documents to Lois to feed her Mannheim investigation, many files were related to the night Boss Moxie was killed. Analyzing the photos and the crime scene, Clark noticed that the injuries dealt to Moxie and his men were similar to what he saw Onomatopoeia do to Atom-Man. His body was riddled with bullet holes, although no bullets could be found either inside or around him.

They decided to listen to the recording of Lex’s confession once again, and the recording was filled with strange buzzing and hissing noises meaning that the confession was fake. Onomatopoeia used her powers to fake Lex Luthor’s voice and record that confession. In reality, Lex Luthor was nowhere near Boss Moxie when he died. The whole thing was staged by Onomatopoeia and Bruno Mannheim to get rid of Luthor.

And that’s it for the moment, we don’t know in which direction will the story with the Intergang go, but we do know that now with Peia’s secret revealed, a lot more concerning Bruno’s past and his rise to power will be revealed as well.
