Gundam (Franchise)

Gundam is a Japanese military science fiction franchise created by Yoshiyuki Tomino that began with *Mobile Suit Gundam* in 1979, helping define the “real robot” mecha genre. Over the decades, it has expanded into one of Japan’s largest multimedia franchises, spanning dozens of anime series, films, manga, novels, video games, and the hugely popular Gunpla model kits. Now fully owned by Bandai Namco Holdings, Gundam remains one of the company’s most successful intellectual properties, generating billions in lifetime revenue and continuing to grow through new anime, merchandise, streaming, and attractions.
