Hallmark Channel
Hallmark Channel is an American cable network owned by Hallmark Media, a subsidiary of Hallmark Cards, and focuses on family-friendly entertainment, including TV shows and made-for-TV movies. It originally evolved from religious broadcasters ACTS and VISN, later becoming the Odyssey Network in the 1990s after shifting toward general family programming.
The channel rebranded as Hallmark Channel in 2001 and gradually built its identity around seasonal and holiday-themed romantic films and specials. Its “Countdown to Christmas” event, launched in 2009, became a key part of its strategy and branding.
By the 2010s, Hallmark Channel had become known for producing large volumes of holiday romance content tied closely to Hallmark’s greeting card business. While still widely distributed in the U.S., its reach has declined from its peak in the mid-2010s.
