Heat (Franchise)

“Heat” (1995), written and directed by Michael Mann, is a crime epic about LAPD detective Vincent Hanna and professional thief Neil McCauley, whose cat-and-mouse conflict also affects their personal lives. The film was based on Mann’s earlier work inspired by real-life police pursuit cases and evolved from an unproduced TV pilot into a feature film after “L.A. Takedown.”

Released by Warner Bros. in December 1995, it became a major critical and commercial success, earning $187.4 million worldwide and strong praise for its direction and performances by Al Pacino and Robert De Niro. It is widely regarded as one of the greatest crime films ever made and highly influential in the genre. A sequel has been in development since 2022, with Leonardo DiCaprio and Christian Bale attached to star.
