Its flagship *Super Mario* series launched in 1985, while spin-offs such as *Mario Kart*, *Mario Party*, *Paper Mario*, and *Mario & Luigi* have become major franchises of their own. With more than 200 games and over 900 million copies sold, *Mario* is the best-selling video game franchise of all time and remains Nintendo’s flagship property.
