The Bell Jar (Film)

‘The Bell Jar’ is a psychological drama film directed by Sarah Polley, based on Sylvia Plath’s 1963 novel, starring Billie Eilish as Esther Greenwood and Carey Mulligan as Mrs. Greenwood. The project was previously developed with Kirsten Dunst attached to direct and Dakota Fanning set to star, but that version was abandoned before eventually being revived with Polley at the helm. Focus Features acquired the rights in 2026, with filming beginning in Toronto on June 29 and continuing through September 2.
